Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.), a staunch ally of former President Donald Trump and former chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, disclosed Tuesday that FBI agents stopped him on family vacation and seized his cell phone just one day after the bureau raided the former president's home and offices in Florida.
Perry told Just the News three agents approached him with a search warrant while he was traveling with family Tuesday morning and asked for the phone.
"They seized my phone, imaged it and returned it to me," Perry said in an interview.
The congressman said he was shocked the bureau simply did not ask his lawyer to retrieve any evidence they wanted from him.
"They could have simply asked my attorney," he said. "They didn't need to stop me when I was traveling with family."
Sources familiar with the episode told Just the News the warrant is part of a broader investigation into efforts in Pennsylvania to contest the November 2020 election results or consider alternate electors that could be offered at the Capitol on Jan. 6. They declined to be more specific.
Edward Snowden is an American hero.
I would have been worried about catching Monkey Pox off them.
Acquiring the phone was just a little less important than humiliating the Congressman.
The FBI will “find” whatever information the FBI thinks they need that will help in their fight against political dissension and Anti State Wreckers.
