Why Republicans are standing by Trump, even after the FBI raid (media-think)
uk.news.yahoo.com ^ | 8/9/22 | Eric Garcia

Were the GOP a normal political party, these men would likely see federal agents searching a former president’s home as an opportune time to get off the Trump train. But given they did not draw the line at his inciting a literal violent riot at the US Capitol and subsequently showing no contrition, it’s no surprise they’re standing by him in the face of a visit by the FBI.

In fact, just as the news was boiling over, Representative Jaime Herrera Beutler, one of the ten House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump for his role in the insurrection, started to fall behind Trump-endorsed primary challenger Joe Kent in Washington state’s 3rd district. The election happened last week but results are still coming in — and Kent has now pulled decisively ahead.

It was in fact Herrera Beutler who revealed the damning contents of that January 6th phone call between Trump and McCarthy. In her speech supporting Trump’s impeachment, Herrera Beutler explained that “the president initially repeated the falsehood that it was antifa that had breached the Capitol”.

The Washington Congresswoman’s likely downfall comes a week after Michigan Representative Peter Meijer — another Republican who voted to impeach the former president — lost his primary to Trump-endorsed John Gibbs. The Democrats’ Congressional campaign operation had run ads flattering the extreme Gibbs in the primary in hopes of securing a more beatable opponent. Meijer even introduced Gibbs at a “unity” event. It was a strategy that left a sour taste in the mouths of Democrats across the spectrum – from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to Abigail Spanberger.

"The raid should have been enough! It has to have been enough? Why wan't it enough???" hissed the Cheneys, flicking their prehensile tongues at the media on the morning of 8/9/22. :)

I dunno -- maybe because there are a whole lot of people who want to hear/see the evidence, and gather more facts, before forming an opinion?

That's how we used to do things before social media, anyway....

Timetable has been moved up. Trump has to become speaker. The better to hit them head on.

You all must understand how the pendulum swings for the left. The left takes 2 steps forward under Obama then one step backwards under the GOP. The have another 90 days to push pedal-to-the-metal. They know what’s coming and could always count in the past on only one step backwards. Trump as speaker now becomes imperative.

Only thing that surprises me is how long it took......been expecting this since the Roger Stone thing.

President Trump WILL BE charged with something before November.

And it won’t matter when they don’t have anything to go on from this raid.......they will fabricate evidence.

“BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY”

I think this “raid “ just converted some wobbly moderates into becoming Trump supporters

Enough. Is. Enough.

Hopefully some of the angry flak falls on Liz Cheney a week from now

How to respond?

The muzzle velocity of a .223 Remington is between 2,800 and 3,100 FPS out of a 26-inch barrel.

Aim and fire at will. There is a target-rich environment out there.

What makes you think a majoritynofvthe Republican wusses in the House would vote for Trump? Especially after they indict him (which is now inevitable...the DOJ/FBI can’t possibly say they found nothing after raiding his home).

These people will stop at nothing to stop Trump, and I don’t mean just those with a D after their name.

And do what? Jump on the deep state train?

“Even after”

Wow.

Can’t bring themselves to say “Because of”

Why should they, when you kept standing by your man (and woman) when the Klintoons did anything or had any of countless thousands of weird things happen.

Yet here they still are.

Exactly.

I'll take it one step further ...

As far as I'm concerned, Donald J. Trump is a candidate in 2024 even if he doesn't run. If he's not on the ballot in my state, I'll be writing his name in for President.

After the events of yesterday, I'll bet there are a staggering number of Americans who are of the same mind.

The “even after” in headline is so absurd. Try “especially after”.

If the GOP were a normal political party, it would have different beliefs and goals than the opposing party.
