NAVIGATION Navigation of a ship at sea is, in principle, a very simple matter: you plot a course between where you are and where you want to be, and let the propeller muscle the ship through the water. As simple as that seems, it won’t happen without another very important element: the rudder! The rudder performs its quiet, steady work, unshaken by the tremendous pressures directed against it. And it must hold the true course without deviation.
The navigation of a human life is also, in principle, a very simple matter. As with a ship, there must be motivation and direction. Sea service men and women have shown no shortage of drive, but far too many who abound with energy have experienced the tragic results of inattention to their moral compass. When a ship drifts off course, the order “Mind your helm!” quickly follows: Pay attention to your rudder’s position! The same order in your personal life (“Pay attention to moral attitudes and actions.”) is a call to mind the moral helm in your life. This internal rudder must be able to withstand the powerful forces that will otherwise constantly push you off your safe and proper course. The proven moral and spiritual values of our heritage provide excellent tools to help you sail a true course, whatever the state of the seas. CAPT Al Hill, CHC, USN

Dear God: I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman, Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, National Guardsman, or Merchant Marine feel alone or forgotten.
O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is loving kindness, And with Him is abundant redemption. And He will redeem Israel From all his iniquities.

Although it was insufferably hot today, Tippy and I did our two-mile walk and 20 minute training session, at 6:00AM before it got too bad.

Howdy, Kathy.
Any chance for some “you time” this weekend?
Have you gotten any rain this weekend? The Lake Hood cam crashed and burned a couple of days ago and I miss the beautiful scenery up there.

Strength to Let Go
[The everlasting God] will not grow tired or weary. Isaiah 40:28
Once known as the World’s Strongest Man, American weightlifter Paul Anderson set a world record at the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne, Australia, despite a severe inner-ear infection and a 103-degree fever. Falling behind frontrunners, his only chance for a gold medal was to set a new Olympic record in his last event. His first two attempts failed badly.
So, the burly athlete did what even the weakest among us can do. He called on God for extra strength, letting go of his own. As he later said, “It wasn’t making a bargain. I needed help.” With his final lift, he hoisted 413.5 pounds (187.5 kg) over his head.
Paul, the apostle of Christ, wrote, “When I am weak, then I am strong” (2 Corinthians 12:10). Paul was speaking of spiritual strength, but he knew that God’s power was “made perfect in weakness” (v. 9).
As the prophet Isaiah declared, “[The Lord] gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak” (Isaiah 40:29).
What was the path to such strength? Abiding in Jesus. “Apart from me you can do nothing,” He said (John 15:5). As weightlifter Anderson often said, “If the strongest man in the world can’t get through one day without the power of Jesus Christ—where does that leave you?” To find out, we can release our dependence on our own illusive strength, asking God for His strong and prevailing help. — Patricia Raybon
When you depend on God’s strength, and not your own, what’s the outcome? How does abiding in Jesus give you strength?
All-powerful God, my life’s burdens feel heavy and overwhelming, but abiding in You gives me Your strength to carry on and overcome.

Feetsies are up but comfy, not so much. But what fun today was!
Walter, one of the museum buddies who pops by to visit often, was there today with his Jeep. He’s a WWII re-enactor and his Jeep is sweet.
We were sitting around chatting and I mentioned how much I enjoy getting to ride in some of the museum vehicles when the opportunity arises, which isn’t often. Walter said, “Ya wanna go for a ride?” I said, “Any ol’ time.” He said, “No time like the present!”
So off we went and rode all around the big, vacant field next to the museum, then we went for a ride through the woods behind the building. It was so much fun BUT it really wasn’t a good thing for my bum back. I didn’t hurt too much right afterwards but I’m paying for it tonight.
Tomorrow will be a do-nothing day but do I care? Heck no! LOL!!
It was a slow weekend. I only got to do one tour each day. Yesterday was a couple from France who came over to road-trip around the country. The gentleman is a French Army veteran and he’d done a little digging around on the ‘net for museums to visit. He found us and we were the first on their list to visit. They speak enough English to squeak by so it was an “interesting”, yet fun tour.

Howdy, luvie.
It was pretty slow this weekend at the museum but today was fun. The rundown is in post #16.
So you finally “cooled” off a bit, did you? Good! Now if it will just STAY under 100.
We’ve had low to mid 90s but with pop-up showers all around keeping it very steamy. Several more days of basically the same ahead, though the temps are supposed to drop back to upper 80s mid-week.
