Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis called for doctors who perform gender reassignment surgeries on minors to be sued at a Wednesday press conference.
“They talk about these very young kids getting gender-affirming care,” DeSantis said, who used air quotes while using the phrase. “What they don’t tell you what that is is that they are giving very young girls double mastectomies, they want to castrate these young boys — that’s wrong.”
Several of DeSantis’ press reps have questioned the “gender-affirming care” phrase in recent months, arguing that it doesn’t specify the procedures being performed in some cases. And in April, Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo said minors experiencing gender dysphoria should instead receive counseling to address their concerns.
“You don’t disfigure 10-, 12-, 13-year-old kids based on gender dysphoria,” DeSantis added Wednesday. “Eighty percent of it resolves anyways by the time they get older. So why would you be doing this? I think these doctors need to get sued for what’s happening, I’m sorry.”
Those who support access to the procedures — which also include puberty blockers — assert that they improve the mental health of transgender children.

DeSantis has come under fire from some LGBTQ groups and Assistant Secretary of Health Rachel Levine, the highest-ranking transgender member of government, for his positions on a range of transgender issues.
In March, Florida banned school instruction related to gender identity or sexual orientation for kids in younger grades, which critics have called the “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

I was a tomboy because there were only boys in my neighborhood my age...until I was about 12....thank God my mom never thought a thing about it! Kids grow up and out - LET them!
Finally sanity is spoken out loud by someone who matters. I am not sure but l don’t think Trump has said as much.

Florida needs to remove legal liability award “caps” for cases involving “gender affirming care” by these BARBARIC medical “professionals”.

As bad as female genital mutilation is, we ceded the high ground on the issue with allowing doctors to cut the dicks off of little boys. You’ll never hear me again castigate Muslims for their practice.
In some jurisdictions, irreversable body changes are not allowed until detailed counseling has been experienced. I don’t know what the legal situation is in Florida. Having counseled people with LGBTQ issues, I know this is a very complex subject. However, I think that irreversable body changes should not be the approach before age 18, and even then only after detailed counseling and evaluation. Perhaps the same approach should be followed before allowing young people to have military style deadly weapons. Some counseling and evaluation might have saved dozens of lives this year when on their 18th birthday young people were allowed legal access to weapons of mass murder. Note: I am not anti gun as I own one, just anti stupidity.
Most of us tomboys ended up attractive much to the surprise of many kids...and remained so. Never in want of male attention.
One of my sons ran into an old high school friend whie visiting our hometown who asked him..”Is your mom still great looking”.......and so typical of a son he replied....”For her age yea”...hahahaha. FOR MY AGE!
