I am no friend of Russia, my grandmother, great grandmother and great aunt left there in disgust when the commies took over, however, human shields is not cool and violates Geneva and Hague conventions in place since after the American Civil War. Zelensky is no saint, I get it that he is fighting a vicious enemy, but he can’t legally or morally shelter among civilians.

You need to read these details so you don’t sound stupid in public.

https://www.newsweek.com/ukraine-violates-war-laws-endangers-civilians-amnesty-international-1730696

And you should apologize, publicly, to every US Army veteran on this site. The US Army never behaved this way. Not once, not in any theater of any war.

And, importantly, the US never had a national defense policy that deliberately embedded men and equipment in civilian buildings without first evacuating them.

But Ukraine does.

I read the actual Amnesty Int. report and now your Newsweek, which states While the bases in schools may not themselves be in violation of international humanitarian law because the schools were not in session...Ukraine put bases in schools near houses and apartment buildings without warning the residents or helping them to evacuate. So tell me, did the US have soldiers based in residential areas in Bastogne during WW2?

Amnesty International also discovered that Ukraine had installed military bases in 22 out of 29 schools visited in the Donbas and Mykolaiv regions during the investigation, according to the release. The organization said that Russia later launched strikes on many of the same schools between April and late June, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries.

Following the destruction of schools in at least three towns, Ukraine's military is accused of moving bases to schools in different areas, putting the community surrounding the new bases at risk for similar attacks.

While the bases in schools may not themselves be in violation of international humanitarian law because the schools were not in session, the organization said that Ukraine put bases in schools near houses and apartment buildings without warning the residents or helping them to evacuate.

“This is silly.”

But what isn’t silly to you, I’m guessing, is blaming the other side for “killing civilians” when a military response is received against the positions you place near civilians.

“The problem is that the people who wanted this war in the first place, and have given him over $100B to fight it”

The real problem is that $100B may have been allocated, but how much of that was received directly or indirectly to US congressmen, members of US Intel agencies, members of US federal bureaucracy, and other connected individuals.

These traitors are not just paying Zelensky, they are paying themselves.

“These traitors are not just paying Zelensky, they are paying themselves.”

Good point, and perhaps it explains why the Neocons here are so gung-ho to see the Ukrainian conscripts being ground up. A little $$ pipeline, perhaps?

I pray for the innocents who have lost their lives, their homes and their peace because of these greedy criminals.

You talking to me about moral positions after your defense
of what Russia is doing?

Now that’s top level humor right there.

ROTF LMAO

Adults know war is not a moral issue.

I don’t take a moral position on the war.

Of course you don’t. You just support everything Russia
does and claim you’ve made no moral positions.

Am I mischaracterizing your actions?

Have you called for Russia to withdraw to it’s own borders?

“Have you called for Russia to withdraw to it’s own borders?”

No.

Nor have I called for Ukraine to abandon their state policy of using human shields.

That said, I’m genuinely surprised that Russia has not used tactical nukes to settle this more quickly. Even an amateur student of history can see Russia has essential national interests at stake. Whether those interests are moral is in the eye of the beholder. And even fools can see the US has no national interests in Ukraine.

After all, Ukraine is theirs...and has always been theirs.

As long as the US stays out of it, or more accurately removes itself from the conflict, I am OK with any outcome.

Realpolitik.

Mariner, Russia has no business whatsoever in the Ukraine.

It’s not their nation. It ends there.

You guys are the supporters of the moving goal posts.

Your big claim was the Russia couldn’t let NATO hook up
with the Ukraine, even though Latvia and Estonia had been
members for 18 years, with no problems.

Now you’ve tossed that off because Zelensky announce the
Ukraine would no longer seek NATO membership on March
15th this year.

Five months later you’re still claiming Russia has
essential national interests at stake.

The hell it does. You’re living in a make believe world
that simply doesn’t comply with reality.

Tactical nukes? So the Ukraine should use tactical nukes
also? Is that your brilliant idea?

Where do you folks come up with this crap?

“...and violating the laws of war”

Therw are no laws of war.

Dont mention the Geneva convention on land warfare. When you are on the ground in the middle of a firefight survival is the only law.
