After a protracted battle over its LGBT content, residents of Jamestown Township, Michigan, voted no (62.5% to 37.5%) on August 2 to a 10-year millage renewal and increase for the Patmos Library. (A millage rate is the tax rate used to determine local property taxes.)
Bridge Michigan has reported that 84% of the library’s $245,000 annual budget derives from the now rejected millage, which means, according to library board president Larry Walton, Patmos will likely run out of funds in early 2023, despite the library having $325,000 in reserve. It will also mean residents won't have their property taxes raised by $24.
Walton accused those who voted to defund the library over its LGBT content of being “short sighted.”
Nathan Triplett, president of the ACLU of Michigan, lauded Walton and his team for "refus[ing] to give in" to the demands of residents of a county that voted for Donald Trump over Joe Biden by a 20-point margin.

But heaven forbid if they have any books with the N-Word in it.
Libraries are for the public paid for with the tax money of the public. They have every right to decide what kind of content that library has to offer.
It was not a charity set up to provide an individual with an income so he can do as he pleases. What crap entitlement mentality.
Walton and his crew should all lose their positions and have to go out and get a real job and work for a living.
Sounds like they have about 6 months to draw a salary before their funds run out. Repossess the library building and books at that point and start all over.
I smell a big pile of burning books.

It’s a pity all they can do is defund the library. In better, saner times, there would have been far harsher consequences for perverts grooming children.
Bump
Tar, feathers and a rough cut rail would be better.
Neah. The folks who burn books are never the good guys.
Drop ‘em off at Goodwill or a used book store.
Dang, when I was in HS the only porn I could find was in old National Geographic magazines. It was tough going.

He who pays the piper calls the tune.
I’ve started two comments in response to this thread.
I realized both comments would likely get removed. So I removed them myself to save the moderators the trouble.
Burning books reminds us all Fahrenheit 451. And that dystopian world is anathema to every right thinking person.
But what other answer can be provided when libraries are pushing filth and degeneracy on our little children? What needs to be burned is not books, but the written instructions and details describing how to physically and mentally disfigure our children.
If our libraries become a little more than indoctrination centers for the moral filth and decay of degenerate liberals, then burn them. Burn them to the ground.
The librarians should be invited to resign if they can’t do their job in an uncontroversial fashion and the town should begin searching for their replacements.
Check the home computers of the freak pedos that push this stuff. Should be interesting. Check the people pushing in schools too.
Isn’t obscenity based on community standards and as a PUBLIC library, its repository should reflect the values of that community? The People did the right thing by defunding the rogue library that didn’t reflect their values when it comes to explicit material.
In theory, the board is elected

But it looks like, once elected, the board member serves until he steps down. Which may be how the Left captured the board.
Is Larry Walton a groomer? Is the ACLU a part of the GROOMER Society? I think so...
I’m sure the library’s collection of Christian materials for youth is comprehensive.
