The reality of inflation and the specter of a recession appear to be weighing heavily on middle-class households.

Among those whose income falls in the $30,000-to-$100,000 range, 75% say their earnings are falling behind the cost of living, and 77% think the U.S. will be in a recession by the end of 2022, according to a recent survey from Primerica.

There’s also been a general uptick in financial worries in the last six months, with 39% of those surveyed expecting to be worse off financially in a year, up from 32% in March and 28% in December 2021. In December 2020, that share was 17%.

Lesko Brandon and his merry henchmen will not rest until 100% of Americans say their income is falling behind the cost of living.

There is only one potential problem. Those suburban moms are going to be torn between wondering if their daughters can erase their sexual mistakes or their $375 grocery bill every week.

I think most of them will still vote religiously for the former, but how many will feel like the dark side wasn't worth it.

“77% think we’ll be in a recession by the end of 2022.” We’re in one now! Morons.

It's the Federal Reserve having us use their fiat currency (federal reserve notes), always at interest, which has skewed our perception of inflation.

This has gone up!   That has gone up!

No, most likely not so much. Something has gone down in this calculus and it's the value of the central bank's notes. The manipulated slower-then-faster-then-slower pace has managed expectations downward for several generations (since 1913).

This is why I think the Democrats are whistling past the graveyard, along with their sycophants in the media. People live in reality. People vote most for their wallets. The midterms are going to be a rout.

The way to crush the bourgeoisie is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation.

Inflation has taken a toll on households, rising 9.1% in June from a year earlier

**********

No, its actually risen a lot more than that, well into the double digits in fact. If you're retired you better batten down the hatches.

Well that’s what happens when your government wants to steal the wealth of the middle class.

Ours fell behind over a year ago. Even a small pay increase is barely helping. It’s better than nothing, though. Working harder for less money. How nice!

The midterms are going to be a rout.

*************

Perhaps, but only if the Republicans get off their buts and give people reasons to vote for them. Three months away from a pivotal election and the GOP has no specific agenda to move the country forward. Situation normal, unfortunately.

The SF Fed President Mary Daly doesn’t feel any discomfort from inflation. so....
Countries have survived massive inflation in the past. Wonder how we’ll actually perform?
