Hi Kathy.

My favorite: The “Colonel Boogie March’’ from “Bridge On The River Kwai’’.

I also like Roy Hamilton's version. Indeed, he had a great voice.

You Can Have Her--Roy Hamilton (1961)

"If you get the wrong woman,
There's only one thing you can do:
Just dig a hole and jump right in it
And pull the ground right over you."

This movie theme song may be forgotten today, but it got a lot of airplay on KRLA, Southern California's rock blaster with a 50,000-watt transmitter in South El Monte, in the late summer of 1964.

The Long Ships--Charles Albertine & His Orchestra (1964)

Marvelous! Saw this on my family’s FIRST TV set (in B & W).

ONLY a heart filled with VENOM and HATE, could possible think of this as RACIST. The same is true for Amos ‘n Andy, a wonderful show about two nitwits, the Kingfish, and Andy Brown, three if you include Algonquin J. Calhoun, who live in NYC, and happen to be Negroes (the term for BLACKS in those days...which comes from Spanish and means, BLACKS). So is Amos, the solid cab driver, and so are Drs., Lawyers, Cops. etc. Grew up on it. One of my favorite shows, no more racist than the Honeymooners! And a much better show!

What a shame that such AMERICAN cultural legacies were murdered by HATEFUL RACISTS BLACK and WHITE...but ALL LIBERALS!

THANKS for posting this Kathy. As you can see, it brought back all kinds of good memories from, yes, a better time.

Kol HaKavod! All Honor To You!

Since Live And Let Die has already been mentioned, I’ll say “I’m Alright” from CADDYSHACK. I worked at a country club when it came out and there was no better summer than being on the greens every morning.

Great song. Great voice. Great talent. Died in his late 30’s, early 40’s (I’m too lazy to look it up right now) but not of the booze, drugs type that takes so many musical talents. (So, I looked it up passed at 40, cerebral hemorrhage.) What a wide range of musical genres he sang.
