Howdy, luvie.
Have you been able to sleep any better yet or are you still dragging?
LOL! You posted as I was typing.
Yes, I survived the heat but it was awfully slow at the museum. Traffic was even slow on the highway in front of the place. Can’t blame people for not wanting to get out if they didn’t have to.
Wow! Under 100 there today? Is this going to last?
We have a couple more toasty days, then the temps start backing off a little each day. Next weekend, we might even have upper 80s for highs. It was 98 here yesterday and 95 today, and tomorrow will be in that range again. UNLESS we manage to get a little rain that they say is possible.
Sure hope you get your break from the heat soon!
Had to go into the office for a short bit, and then home to tackle a list of work stuff that was always sent to the bottom of the list...but now, the very last thing on the list is done! More from the list tomorrow. 😂
Yeah, it’s going to last. 99 every day for the next week. LOL! It’s only psychologically cooler. :)
I hope you get those 80s and the rain. I hope it’s not too late for the crops there. So sad. It’s a shame it was so hot for the museum time, but I know the people who showed up enjoyed themselves. Do you have water or cold drinks available or would it be dangerous for the items there?
There's a video embedded on the page titled "One Song At A Time" and the founder of the organization, Bob Regan, speaks a little about what they do. Bob is the gentleman who stopped by the museum today.
They have a You Tube channel where they have several videos listed of songs written, including bits of the veterans' stories that inspired them. I've been listening to them and all are good and so touching.
Bob plans to bring the rest of the writers in the organization to the museum some time soon for a tour and we look forward to that! And look forward to thanking them for what they're doing for veterans. Based on comments by veterans in that embedded video, it means a lot to them.
I hope you enjoy learning about another organization doing their part to help veterans as we did today.
We’re supposed to start cooling off a little later in the week. Low 90s, which is where we SHOULD be this time of year, and maybe upper 80s next Saturday. Chances for rain, though not real high, pretty much every day so MAYBE we’ll get something this week. At least one day.
Sounds like a productive day and that probably feels good. I hoped you’d gotten in a little down time with a good book at least. Still time to sit on the deck since it’s still daylight. :-)
Wow...that sounds great! it would be a huge boost to the museum and to the organization for them to come there as a group!
Did they ever air that TV segment on the museum?
Hey, gotta take what you can get! LOL Any decrease in the temps is a good thing.
It’ll still be hot here later in the week but not as hot as now. It’ll be muggy, too, since there are rain chances almost every day. But we’ll take what decreases we can get.
Rain won’t do anything for our corn because it’s done. The stalks are dead. I did pull an ear off yesterday and cringingly stripped the leaves back. I was afraid I’d see few or deformed kernels but the ear was full. The kernels are small but it looks like it might not be a total loss, for our fields anyway. The overall yield will be down just because it’ll take more kernels to make a bushel.
A few fields were planted later than ours and those might not turn out too well.
We have a cooler at the museum that we keep bottled water in for our visitors.
We’ve been getting a lot of visitors from Nashville this year. They all say they heard about it from friends so apparently folks are talking about it up there.
The Tennessee Crossroads segment is supposed to air in September. The 8th, if I recall correctly. That’s what they told us anyway.
Well, I am shocked that the corn kernels are “normal” in spite of the dryness. I guess the corn stalks send everything to them so they’ll survive. Better a small crop than no crop.
I just want cool. I feel drained and depressed every morning when I go outside and it’s already in the 90s. It gets really old...as you now know. I hope we both get relief soon!
Thank you for the information! ;-)
I was stunned, but pleasantly so. I’ve wanted to check an ear for a little while but just could drum up the courage. LOL
The corn and soybeans planted around here are a drought-hardy hybrid and can survive on dewfall for a little while. Keeps them going during dry spells, though this has been a long one. They’ll absorb moisture through their leaves and we’ve apparently had enough heavy dewfalls to make a difference. We certainly haven’t had much rain here the last two months.
I’m happy it won’t be a total loss.
I’d say we ALL want cool at this point. LOL This has been such a long, hot summer, especially for you folks to the west.
We’ve had hotter summers here than this but it’s been a little while.
You’re welcome, spel. :-)
Sorry for being late, we were at a neighbors having a cowboy cookout.
Fresh caught Walleye lake fish and back strap of venison, macaroni salad and potato salad.
It was all delicious. Now bed.
Thank you and good night my friend
I’m also happy it won’t be a total loss. I have had farmers/ranchers in my family and know how important the weather is for their success or failure....and whether they can feed their families.
Guess I’d better watch this show and then head out. It’s getting later than I wanted to stay up. See ya tomorrow! Stay cool if you can!
Yes, farming’s a gamble and most of the time, it’s a win. Once in a while, it’s a loss. This year, they’re taking a hit but it isn’t as bad as I feared. Thank goodness.
You’d BETTER be in bed by now. Your alarm clock’s life depends on it. LOL I hope it isn’t too awfully hot when you head out for church in the morning.
There’s nowhere I need to go tomorrow so staying inside in the cool is the plan for the day. :-)
How's everyone doing this morning?

Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))
Good to see you and Gizmo have been able to get out for some fun this weekend. Still heading out earlier than usual to beat the heat? I hope you’re going to get a little break in that heat this week, as we are. We’ll take any break we can get. LOL
