Report: January 6 Committee Avoids Asking Cipollone Questions That Could Implicate Hutchinson in Perjury

The January 6 Committee avoided asking former White House counsel Pat Cipollone questions about what star witness Cassidy Hutchinson said last month that she heard him say during the Capitol riot, the New York Times has reported.

By failing to ask Cipollone to confirm or deny the sensational statements attributed to him, they avoided contradicting her.

Hutchinson’s testimony, entirely based on hearsay, was treated as a major breakthrough for the committee because she appeared to implicate former President Donald Trump and key aides — until her factual claims began to fall apart.

By failing to ask Cipollone if he actually said what Hutchinson, under oath, told the committee that he said, the committee avoided proving that Hutchinson committed perjury — while using her as leverage to force Cipollone to testify on video.

The Times also notes — as if it were normal practice — that committee aides are following a script and that they are selectively editing bits of Cipollone’s testimony to air them at future hearings and drive their particular narrative:

The panel recorded Mr. Cipollone on video with potential plans to use clips of his testimony at upcoming hearings. Aides have begun strategizing about whether and where to adjust scripts to include key clips, one person said. The next hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.

Cipollone had already cooperated with the committee before, while declining to testify under oath or to appear on video, citing concerns of executive privilege and attorney-client privilege. The committee then issued a subpoena for him to return.

The motivation for the subpoena was Hutchinson’s testimony, which appeared to invite elaboration from Cippolone. However, the committee reportedly did not ask him about that, adding fuel to criticism that the hearings are a “show trial.”

This procedure is really offensive.

This business about putting on selective testimony and then “never” letting anyone contradict it.

Is outrageous.

Lucky for us, the democratic majority of Americans voted in the most intelligent and benevolent representatives available so that they can tell us what reality is and make the really tough decisions for us.

Lucky for me, I don’t believe in paying for cable. I might watch a DVD at night when the children are in bed, but that’s about it. Let them ban home videos. I dare them.

They can indict a ham and cheese sandwich, but this business will be tossed in court. It won’t allow hearsay and our idiot congress critters know better. This is just a show trial to make Trump look bad in 2024. After the midterms, the puppies will be holding their own show trials regarding the FNI,ANTIFA, DOJ, Hunter Biden and eventually, Joe Biden.

Aides have begun strategizing about whether and where to adjust *scripts* to include key clips.

That covers everything about the January 6 Committee.

This issue could have been avoided if Mr. Cipollone prefaced every answer with the words “Ms. Hutchinson is lying, therefore....”

The bad guys always find ways around the law if possible. The good guys want to follow the law.

It’s always easy to tell who the bad guys are. They always have something to hide.

Perhaps those that testify need to learn how to answer those question by injecting things off the cuff into their answers.

I am dumbfounded—

Just passed by tv news someone else was watching. Reporter says Cipollone never contradicted anything Hutchinson said.

These people are real snakes.

Pat Cippolone is an experienced litigator. Unfortunately, any "unhelpful" testimony he may provide will be ignored and never reach the public. This hearing is about as close to a Star Chamber as it can get.

One member of the committee stated that they do not call witnesses to validate the accuracy of other witness testimony. That is cover for why the committee will never take testimony from Trump’s Secret Service detail regarding the events of January 6th.

They have their storyline on record and they will not risk having it blown up by contradicting testimony, especially not 1st person testimony from any Secret Service agents.
