President Joe Biden will unveil the much-anticipated first full-color image from NASA's James Webb Space Telescope on Monday, agency officials confirmed.
The image, known as "Webb's First Deep Field," will be the deepest and highest-resolution view of the universe ever captured, showing myriad galaxies as they appeared up to 13 billion years in the past, according to NASA.
The agency and its partners, the European Space Agency and the Canadian Space Agency, are set to release a separate batch of full-color images from the Webb telescope on Tuesday, but Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and the public will get a sneak peek a day early.
[***snip***]
After the White House event, NASA will unveil more images in an event streamed live Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. ET. NASA officials said that batch will include the Webb telescope’s first spectrum of an exoplanet, showing light emitted at different wavelengths from a planet in another star system. The images could offer new insights into the atmospheres and chemical makeups of other exoplanets in the cosmos.

His handlers are throwing everything out there, trying to pump his numbers.
Reminds me of Bill Clinton’s NASA moment on 8 August 1996, which, purely coincidentally (!), was on the lead-in to an election. “Life on Mars” and boy, if that was the discovery, why have we spent so much since? EXCEPT it was a ‘splash from a flash’, just like this one!
Space cases.
Doesn’t that make it extra special. I hope he doesn’t do it wearing a loaded diaper.
What the hell does Jo Jo have to do with NASA photos from the Webb telescope? I don’t need numbnuts to “unveil” anything for me. I can see the picture on the net without having to watch a drooling moron trying to take credit for taking it.
Can’t wait to hear his “that’s one step for man” speech as though he wrote it himself.
Leftists complain about “politicizing science” — this is it.
Decrepit Old Fool had nothing to do with it, and should have nothing to do with showing the first pictures.
NBC...state media.
Biden sends 'warmest greetings' to Muslims for Eid al-Adha holiday today.
Bummer ... the mere sight of him or the sound of his voice makes me nauseous. I’ll look at the pictures later.
I have been looking at the photos for several days now
Biden is a day late and many $$$ short
His photo op is a joke
And try the veal...
I don’t think I’ll be able to look at that.
😜

Someone could make a lot of money if they could develop a
small hand held container that would emit an odor. In a
closed environment one could have some fun with just a tap
on the release button.
They did a deep field first? Will be interesting to compare with the Hubble versions.
If I had the ear of someone in charge of allocating imaging time on the JWST, I’d ask for one shot a year of the Cats Eye Nebula. The Hubble did 4 images of it over time, and someone stitched them together into an animated gif. You can actually see it expand over time. Wish they’d done one a year with hubble. We’d have a bunch to compare between.
Why’d they have to go and spoil it?
