A Lancaster County movie theater has canceled showings of an independent movie featuring prominent right-wing Pennsylvania figures, most notably State Sen. Doug Mastriano, the Republican candidate for governor, according to LancasterOnline.
The movie, billed as an exploration of the populist right movement in Pennsylvania, was supposed to premiere July 16 at the IMAX theater in the Penn Cinema on Airport Road in Manheim Township. But the venue management cancelled it following pushback from members of Lancaster Stands Up, the newspaper reported.
The group Lancaster Stands Up started after the 2016 election of Donald Trump as “a vehicle for everyday people to have a political voice,” and to preserve democracy, according to their website.
The theater, Penn Cinema, told Lancaster Stands Up according to a statement: “We did have plans with the group, but once we learned of the nationalist populist agenda, we canceled the event.”

They made a decision.
They signed a contract.
They were blackmailed into revoking it.
But that seems ok to you?
Should Twitter not sue Elon for breach of contract? Or was that just his decision too?
Doodle Dawg’s a moron.
That’s just what the mafia boss would say too.
Thanks for the tip... I’ll add dog doodle to the list.
No.
This place is right down the street from me. If I had the cash, I’d sue em for something.
Better yet just don't patronize them. Deny them your money. Tell your friends and suggest they do the same.
It's their decision.
Should Twitter not sue Elon for breach of contract?
If Musk signed a contract then yes. If the theater had a signed contract then they should be penalized. Otherwise it's their decision to make.
Is there any city or large town that isn’t taken over by the left?
“ Sounds like a good reason for a lawsuit.”
It sounds like the theater owner had the choice of being sued or having his building burned down.
Probabily fear their theater will be burned downed if they didn’t give in.
Apparently this is a thing with this guy. Looks like he’s been busy, there is one in 2019, 2020, and 2022. Here is a link about this movie: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt20672820/
I had my doubts when Trump endorsed him, because I seemed to remember him making a lot of noise once in a while about some piece of legislation or another. Nothing ever came of any of it, so after a while you stop listening. Then there was the no exceptions, even in the case of the life of the mother, so the most extreme of the extreme positions to take, and one I sure can’t support. Why did Trump go with this guy? He just looks like an attention-seeker to me.
The Movie Theater should start a new group.
Call it “Lancaster Lies Down”.
I’ll take Mastriano over the others that are running.
Remember, this is a Tom Wolfe-led state.
Kinda like not baking a gay cake, no??
No.
Yes, it is.
I know it is, I live here. I think the GOP has problems fielding gubernatorial candidates here, and this one is setting off all kinds of alarms.
Pennsylvania Ping!
Please ping me with articles of interest.
FReepmail me to be added to the list.
Go woke. Go broke. This theater needs to be run out of business.
I’m willing to listen, but from what I have observed, the long knives are, and have been, out for Mastriano.
No it isn't. Sexual orientation is a protected class under the laws in most states. Political beliefs are not.
But regardless, it does beg the question. If you believe that the theater owner should be required to air the film then do you also believe that the baker should bake the cake?
They actually got another theater that’s twice as big.
Well if the “long knives were out” because he had shepherded through some needed piece of legislation that benefitted Pennsylvania that would be one thing, but what he has accomplished is being a self-promoter. If you want to make movies and be famous for b.s., go to Hollywood.
