SAN RAMON, California — Chevron intends to sell its vast headquarters campus in San Ramon, keep its head offices in the same East Bay city and shift jobs to Texas, a move that could deal a fresh blow to the Bay Area economy.
The energy giant said it will cover relocation costs for some employees to move from San Ramon to Texas.
“Chevron plans to sell our Chevron Park campus and move to new modern leased space in San Ramon,” the oil titan said in comments emailed to this news organization.

Close the Martinez refinery? Wow.
in this business though, you either go or find another job.
My company moved me from Hollywood to Oklahoma City about 18 months ago and with COL so much less in Oklahoma compared to California, I’ve gone from beans and weenies to Filet Mignon. Median wage is 45-50 K in Oklahoma City and I’m having a 6 figure year easily so I’m doing a lot better and Oklahoma is deep Red except for the groomers and LGBTQ-ers in the City.
I miss the coast and the diving out in the Channel Islands but I’m replacing that with trips to New Mexico and Texas for horseback adventures.
E.g - every year in California my auto registration was 288.00 US -this year in Oklahoma -94.78 and it’s done in 5 minutes at the Tag Agency - DMV isn’t even involved in renewals
I think it’s the overall political climate in CA, the cost of living, but mostly the Lefts war on oil. A red state like Texas won’t be fighting them all the time and trying to put them out if business like liberal CA.
That won't happen; residents won't allow it. It's upper-middle-class.
Plus lots of liberal-minded folks in Oakland, San Francisco and San Jose more than willing to give those freebies to more homeless rats. San Ramon is far from San Francisco and doesn't have what the homeless want - drugs, theft opportunities and handouts from tourists.
I knew that area long before San Ramon was built up.
True, plus where the c-level wants to live is a factor.
Balls. Show me a leftist oil worker and I’ll eat my hat. Every car in the lot or the ops area has FJB stickers all over it. The Biden Obama clownshow is trying to put these people out of work.
They should have done this 37 years ago when they merged with Gulf.
I well remember that whole Huntington Beach area in the 50’s-—oil derricks everywhere. It’s worth remembering that we fought WW II with oil from Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Kalifornia, and Venezuela. No sign of on shore production now but remember that broken pipe off shore during the shipping back up at Long beach. We’re still getting Kali oil but sneakier.
Better late than never.
California.
And slowly turning Texas blue.
“Chevron will remain headquartered in California ...”
That is what they are saying right now.
If business conditions improve in California, they may very well stay put.
If business conditions continue to decline? Who knows what will happen in the future.
How many think business conditions in California are about to improve?
Words a Texan hates to hear; “We just moved here from California.”
That’s another use for lubricants.
That's not a beauty parlor, that's a cosmetic surgery clinic for the hopelessly damaged.
Our car tags this year in Colorado would have been $900 each car and each year. Here in Florida the tags are $150 for a two year registration!
Chevron and its predecessors, including Standard Oil of California, have been headquartered here since founded here in 1879
