It was originally some California oil company which was bought by Standard Oil. Standard Oil was broken up into pieces by Antitrust enforcement, but the pieces were still mostly owned by the Rockefellers. One piece was Standard Oil of California, which eventually changed it name to Chevron.
Well, they were once The Standard Oil Company of California.
In Texas, it is around $70 but you have to get a stupid inspection first for $7.

However, it's probably the hottest property on the entire I-680 corridor right now. It's 93 acres of flat land right off of a major interstate exit, with extensive shopping right across the street.

On the other hand, San Ramon is represented by Eric Swalwell in Congress.
Unfortunately, the section of Houston where Chevron's offices are located is represented by Sheila Jackson-Lee, so it's damned if they don't, damned if they do.

Musk was operating out of an auto manufacturing plant in Fremont, CA, that was previously a joint-venture operation between General Motors and Toyota (NUMMI). It was the worst-operating GM plant, and the only unionized Toyota plant. GM pulled out of NUMMI after their 2009 Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and Toyota shut down the plant after that.
I guess it's going to be empty again.
In a related story, the Bradley Fighting Vehicle was being manufactured out of a plant in Santa Clara, CA. When the Department of Defense discontinued the plant due to fraud by the manufacturer, the site was abandoned until the San Jose Earthquakes remediated the toxic site to build their new soccer stadium.
So that was two major manufacturing plant closures in the San Francisco Bay Area that impacted the local economy.

The last time I was there with my daughter visiting her sister-in-law, I could see some buildings not far from the ritzy beach area that were probably hiding oil pumping facilities and power generation facilities. I can't imagine how the beach transitioned from many oil derricks to having housing and resort facilities for the rich. Daughter's sister-in-law is rich and remodels her home every so often, currently tore it down and rebuilding from the ground up - it looked awesome before with decks at every level looking out over the beach and ocean. The rich can quickly gentrify a neighborhood.
Chevron has been incrementally shutting down the Richmond facility by decommisioning parts of it and not replacing those parts. Ongoing labor union problems, toxic mitigation, and the expense of California regulations all have Chevron looking for the exit.
Previous corporate name was Standard Oil of California.
Leased space is the key. The leases will be negotiated for just as long as it takes to complete the move to Texas.
“If you had to live in either California or Venezuela, which would you choose?”
I’ll bet more people in Venezuala speak English than in SoCal.
Hopefully none. We are being overrun by these liberal pukes
Even Stevie Wonder wouldn’t hit on Pelosi!
Not Martinez, Richmond.
Although both have filed with the state and the feds to change their penis from oil refineries to bio fuel facilities..... at much lower outputs.
California already claims the right to tax companies on their worldwide income if they have any presence in California. And if a corporation leaves California, to continue to tax the corporation for several years thereafter. Of course, California defines what worldwide income is, and also what percentage of that income is California’s piece of the action. For companies with headquarters in California, I believe that percentage is 100%.
to close their refinery at Richmond.”
What state?
____
Richmond California.
A commie place, right next to Berkeley CA.
Heck, I was surprised to learn Chevron had an HQ in Kali.
______
Why?
Chevron was founded when they split Standard Oil.
Standard Oil of California.
It was pretty much forced originally to operate only in California.
And, California used to be great!
What’s going on now, that’s a different story!
