SAN RAMON, California — Chevron intends to sell its vast headquarters campus in San Ramon, keep its head offices in the same East Bay city and shift jobs to Texas, a move that could deal a fresh blow to the Bay Area economy.

The energy giant said it will cover relocation costs for some employees to move from San Ramon to Texas.

“Chevron plans to sell our Chevron Park campus and move to new modern leased space in San Ramon,” the oil titan said in comments emailed to this news organization.

...

“Chevron will remain headquartered in California, where the company has a 140-year history and operations and partnerships throughout the state,” the company said.

This isn’t all. From what I understand Chevron is also starting on plans to close their refinery at Richmond.

Th jobs lost by Cheron moving will be more than compensated by the legalization of loitering by street prostitutes.

Right, Gov. Newson?

Geez - Just because of over-regulation, high taxation and feces on the sidewalks?

There's just no pleasing some people, I guess...

Actually, the legalization of street prostitutes is to prevent the police from accidentally arresting Nancy Pelosi on prostitution charges as she walks to her appointment at the “beauty” parlor.

Really - you would think they would have moved to Texas long ago.
They are an oil company, after all.

Big, and bad news for San Ramon. I worked at this huge campus for 3 years. Huge. Great cafeteria. Oh well. San Ramon will no doubt Court some woke company or companies to move in, further sending property values lower, long term.

What is the over/under on how long before Blue States start demanding a law to prevent this type of thing or pass state laws to try and stop it ??

If this trend continues in 5-10 years Blue states will be gutted with a few super wealthy people and everyone else living on the streets

They aren't just moving. They are deliberately being chased out.

Nothing the politicians say about it is to be taken at face value.

That Richmond refinery seems to always be in trouble. Closing it would severely impact Kali’s oil/fuel supply.

Perfect way to say that.

I’m going there next week - Bakersfield. Chevron has fracking in Bakersfield. (winding down, Refinery ops in Richmond, Jackwells in Coalinga. Glad to see they’re getting out of California. I’ll bet this is my last trip to Chevron in California

Give it time. It is tough to move a legal entity and takes time, lots of it. Chevron is comprised, no doubt, of hundreds of legal entities that also have to move with it.

(music sting)

All the U-Hauls in California,
Are in a lot in the middle of Texas,
Waiting for a rental to take them back,
So if you’re dreaming about California,
It won’t matter how much you need to ship,
They’re making deals today!
