“I’ll bet this is my last trip to Chevron in California”

That’s the funny thing about these moves: There are lots of affected people who also welcome the change.

California has been an oil producer since the late 19th century. By the early 20th century, 40% of our oil came from California. The fact, that one of California’s historic major industries is leaving is a big deal...and long past due.

I think it would hysterical if people made a habit of send Newsome a Thank You card as they get to move out of that State.

Big, and bad news for San Ramon. I worked at this huge campus for 3 years.

It's a beautiful area, and ritzy area. One of my sisters lived nearby and the homes are very expensive. My wife attended some training classes at that park campus, which is quite a way from SF and she enjoyed going there. Another corporate giant downsizing in California (like B-of-A, Wells Fargo, etc. shedding property in the past).

Chevron intends to sell its vast headquarters campus in San Ramon, keep its head offices in the same East Bay city

That's another way of saying the CEO and his direct reports are staying. Some animals are more equal than others. The serfs have to move. The king will remain where he is.

No hint in the article as to how many jobs will be transferred to Texas.

Yes. My daughter's sister-in-law owns beachfront property in Huntington Beach, lined with mansions. Early 20th century pictures of the area showed oil wells everywhere up and down that beach, all gone now. A lot of oil is still there, but the wells are hidden now, and Democrats like Newsom want to kill any oil drilling that remains.

"California has been an oil producer since the late 19th century. "

Yup. I've read that, and seen the pictures.

As a kid, I remember the oil fields down near Bakersfield.

“Texas just got bluer.”

Not necessarily. Oil workers tend to be conservative.

Because that’s where all the head-honchos live and they don’t want to move. They make enough money that whatever it costs to live in California they aren’t bothered by it or maybe there’s something in their compensation packages where the company picks up the tab.

If you could afford to live in the Bay Area, would you WANT to live there? “Kings” typically like to live in nice places, all else being equal.

I surmise this has more to do with all the legal headaches in moving a corporate entity.

“No hint in the article as to how many jobs will be transferred to Texas.”

A different articles says about 400 employees will transfer. However, they have already moved 6,000 employees to the Texas facility over the years.
