Senate Sergeant at Arms Who Was in Charge of Securing the Capitol on Jan. 6 Dies Suddenly

There were multiple reports on Monday about the death of Michael Stenger, the Senate sergeant-at-arms who was responsible for security in the Senate during the Capitol riot. According to Fox News’ Chad Pergram, Stenger died Monday morning.

The Washington Examiner also reported on it, saying that the cause of his death was “not immediately clear.”

Stenger stepped down in the wake of the Jan. 6 riot, after then-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell asked for his resignation. He had been the Sergeant-at-Arms for the Senate between 2018 and 2021. Previously, he had served in the Secret Service.

Ultimately, it took over four hours for the National Guard to arrive on the scene that day, and some have questioned whether Stenger and his onetime House counterpart, Paul Irving, could have called for backup sooner, WUSA9 reported.

In response to the security breach on Jan. 6, Congress passed a raft of procedural reforms to quash any confusion in the rules about what authority Congress’s security team had to call for reinforcements.

Stenger testified before Congress in 2021, saying there should be investigations of the funding and travel of what appeared to be “professional agitators.” It’s not clear who he was referencing in that testimony.

News of Stenger’s death, without the cause being announced immediately, set off questions.

It came after the Jan. 6 Committee announced that it would be meeting on Tuesday, in a surprise move.

~~~
I’ve been saying that since the 2020 riots. Apparently this is a bad question to ask.
It’s not just how much money and organization behind some of these groups, but also how well protected they are not getting caught or convicted of anything after the fact. Things that make you go hmmmmmm That aspect not only doesn’t get asked in the media, but it gets memory holed too. You’re supposed to think leftist riots are grassroots, mostly-peaceful first-amendment protests, and not well-funded social destabilization efforts
I think this was just as the vax was being rolled out. Concerns about low temp storage and spoilage at that time. We may never know.
The producers of the J-6 insurrection fiction tie up another loose end.
Where there reports of any Clintons skulking around at the time of his untimely demise?
Yes...like when the “KKK” showed up in Charlottesville. It was 3 old guys from North Carolina and they were reportedly the only ones who followed the rules of protest! (Who knew?) I am quite sure they didn’t pay for their own gas or hotel! Of course no “Journalist” checked any of that out!
“””Stenger stepped down in the wake of the Jan. 6 riot, after then-Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell asked for his resignation.”””
I had forgotten that Stenger, who was made Senate Sgt-at-Arms in 2018 by the GOP controlled Senate, was forced to resign by Mitch post J6..
It probably does not make a difference, but would Stenger have a different legal standing as an employee post J6 or as a retired person post J6?
Was he the so-called surprise witness they called this hearing for?
I am detecting a similar "hit" scenario for Stenger as what happened to Donald Young (to silence reports of Soetoro's homosexuality) and Seth Rich (as the whistleblower/leaker to WikiLeaks against DNC misdeeds).
Stenger's testimony - if expanded under actual cross-examination by competent Republicans - would be VERY damning for Nanzi Pelosi, the Capitol Police, the Washington DC Police, and the Washington DC Mayor (who is married to Hillary's pet Water Buffalo).
These three likely hits may have the same source of wet operators.
I think the “surprise” new witness is actually the release for viewing of the recorded interviews made by the repubbies AFTER Jan 6 as part of a documentary telling the republican side of the story.
The demo’s are hoping to find a contradiction or some phrase in those interviews that will let them call Trump an “Insurrectionist” and thereby exclude him from running for future offices - as if he were a Confederate general who lost the Civil War.
Without the cause being mentioned? Really?
I read yesterday that he was shot, and also because he was to testify today. Coincidence?.
Is anyone going to investigate his murder?
