New recruits are no longer required to have a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate to join the U.S. Army if they’re willing to enlist before the end of the 2022 fiscal year, the service announced Thursday.
Military.com first reported the Army announcement on Friday, which said individuals can enlist in the service without the previously required proof of high-school level education if they’re willing to ship to basic training before the end of the fiscal year on Oct. 1. Prospective recruits must still be at least 18 years, qualify for a job in the active-duty Army and score at least 50 points on the 100-point Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB).
A score of 50 on the ASVAB is relatively low, though a score of 31 is the bare minimum to qualify for Army service in general.
The Army has allowed people to enlist at the age of 17 without having finished high school through the Future Soldiers Program, but they would have to finish their high school education or equivalent program before they could ship to basic training.

That means many won’t be able to read or do math.
LOL...not that a HS diploma means they can read or do math.
Considering what the curriculum is in HS these days, it doesn’t matter.
My Uncle Joe joined the Navy during WWII while still in high school. Lied about his age to get in.
Great start:
“Prospective recruits must still be at least 18 years, qualify for a job in the active-duty Army and score at least 50 points on the 100-point Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB).”
The highest one can get is a 99. As in being in the top 1% of test takers. One can’t be in the top 0%...
As long as they get pronouns right...
Anything over 50 is considered “upper mental group” - So, not really low
When I joined in ‘72 you only had to have 8th Grade education to be SGT E5.
We’re going back to the recruitment desperation of the late 70s. Bad news.
Gen Z isn’t large. Recruiting trouble will get worse.
Stop the woke and get rid of the death jab...
Recruits will flow and retention will spike.
Maybe if the Army did more ads featuring a strong wahmen growing up in a same sex couple household?
Why don’t they remove English being a spoken language as a prerequisite?
That would certainly boost their available “talent” pool here in 2022 Amerika.
That’s the important thing.
HEY MOMMA I GOT A 2 ON MY ASVAB! I’M GONNA FLY A F-35!
What could go wrong
Pretty soon the only requirement to enlist in our Army is the ability to fog a mirror.
And aside from shrinking demographics, the kind of people who would gravitate to the military for disciple, structure and a brotherhood of like minded souls are no doubt put off by the woke, gay, drag thing that DoD is smitten with.
It’s like they’re trying to make it easier for illegals to be recruited into our military, or, something.
OMFG. They are out there trying to tranny up the military and now not making their replacement numbers. Who would have thought?
