https://freerepublic.com/~texasgurl24/ appears justified in her criticism of all too many Freepers — because they deserve to be criticized.

The Freepers who embrace relentless doom-and-gloom need to be excommunicated from this forum.

“I hope nobody is expecting NY to comply with this ruling...”

NY may have no choice since 2nd Amendment CCW is now a constitutionally protected right that subjects the state to damages, including attorneys, under 42 U.S.C. §1983.

With that said, today’s decision recognizes that the right to carry CCW is not absolute and that states have and have the right to carve out special areas where CCW is not allowed such as schools and government buildings, although it can’t carve out entire cities because they are densely populated and patrolled by LEO. I expect NY to carve out additional special areas where CCW is not allowed, including subways, buses, airports, trains, train stations; arenas, theaters, and stadiums; and places that serve alcohol. The state may also make CCW illegal and subject to criminal penalties in any privately owned building that prohibits CCW, and give some sort of tax abatement to owners who prohibit CCW.

And the leftist-liberal state/US District judges will just throw it out. They’ll have to take it to the SCOTUS, and that will take years. It was discussed on the “Chris Plante Show”/ WMAL DC, this morning. Here in PA, it’s $25/for 5yrs; nice price.

“These decisions require no kudos to Mitch who jubilantly backstabbed us just yesterday on gun control with red flag laws that will destroy this win.”

What if I told you there were no red flag laws in the bill? Would you still be upset? Because there is no red flag law in it...

Yep, NY may certainly try that game, but the courts will force them to actually comply. And should any federal judges try to play games, they will be reversed by SCOTUS. It’s a solid 6-3 decision. So, a bit of foot dragging and silliness, maybe, but there will be no $10,000, 4.0 GPA, or other absurdities required like the pessimists think.

Take your establishment bullshit and shove off.

I will give Mitch credit where he is due. Keeping garland from being voted on is the best thing he has done, but he’s still a turd.

Your savior Dirty mitch voted on the confiscation laws the other day.

Yes, we watched DC simply ignore the Heller decision until they were pulled up short. I don't think the state of New York will be given quite that much slack, though. It isn't a company town run and protected by the Democrat House.

On this issue, maybe. When I see her id, first thought is ... who is she being high and mighty and condescending towards this time? It’s a pattern that’s been going on a long time. If she looks down on so many people here perhaps she needs to hang out somewhere else.

[[I always frame these discussions in their historical context; what if the British invade from Canada? What if their Iroquois allies and Tories start raiding settlements again?]]

We wil. Have our 7 round magazines to defend ourselves agaisnt fully automatic no limit magazine weapons, provided the elites deign to,”allow” us that many rounds, going forward. Gee, won’t that be a fun defence of nation then?

You'd best get familiar with guerrilla methods and tactics.

Find an opponent away from a group, take the person by surprise, and arm up.   Then do it again and give the other pew, pew, pew to a buddy.   Continue the method to build up.

The most important thing is not to have defeatist thoughts.

That’s exactly right. I think people just have to celebrate now when we get any small thing that goes in our favor because so much is going against conservatives these days. But your two images do clearly show what we have now, which is so so wrong, versus what the founders envisioned. SC was never supposed to have very much power at all!

The rejection of the “two-part test” developed by the circuit courts after Heller and McDonald is HUGE. This basically invalidates the vast majority of post-Heller circuit cases on the 2nd Amendment.

Quote from today's 2nd Amendment decision: In keeping with Heller, we hold that when the Second Amendment’s plain text covers an individual’s conduct, the Constitution presumptively protects that conduct.

As a New Yorker with a pistol permit I can tell you how crazy this law WAS.. I lived in a county only about 40 minutes from NYC when I got my permit. Full carry, concealed. That meant I could carry most anywhere except NYC, court rooms and school houses. I moved to a county up in northern NY about 40 minutes from Canada and when I transferred my license there, they said they only give out “Hunting, hiking, fishing, range conceal” permits, which means you can only carry during those activities and it must be concealed. If I wanted to carry other times, I had to show cause.

A friend of mine is a PA that works in an ER, constantly getting threatened when he doesn’t prescribe opiates. The judge said that wasn’t good enough cause..

It was totally arbitrary and the gun control nut of a judge we have in our county basically made it impossible.

This all gets washed away now.

Thank you Justice Thomas!!

Justice Thomas continues to be a Godsend for our Republic.

With Kavanaugh and Barret being surprisingly squishy on other rulings, I am happy to see them on the side of the Constitution in this regard.

This was a major battle in the WIN column for the Republic, but I doubt the Commies will give up the war just yet.

Interesting notes on “historical context” there... In “historical context”... we could own grenades and fully armed privateer ships. Not just weapons that we can personally “bear”.

The AP story calls it a major expansion of gun rights.

Such a lie.

The right of the people to defend and protect themselves, their home, their families has always existed.

The AP thinks removing an illegal restriction on that right is somehow and expansion.

I would like the AP to be shut down by government, NY, and then when that is overturned by the supreme court see of the AP calls that a major expansion of free speech.

You think?
