Germany to restart coal plants

Germany took emergency measures on June 19, 2022 to secure its energy supply in the face of recent drops in Russian gas deliveries, including a “bitter” use of the most polluting energy, coal.

BERLIN—Germany will restart coal-fired power plants and offer incentives for companies to curb natural gas consumption, marking a new step in the economic war between Europe and Russia. Berlin unveiled the measures Sunday after Russia cut gas supplies to Europe last week as it punched back against European sanctions and military support for Ukraine. The steps, part of a broader strategy initiated after the invasion of Ukraine, aim to reduce gas consumption and divert gas deliveries to storage facilities to ensure that the country has enough reserves to get through the winter. Russia’s gradual cutting of gas supplies has raised the specter of a potential fuel shortage if Europe goes into winter with less-than-full stowages. It has also raised prices,

They didn’t tear down the coal plants after they shuttered them? Why not? The future is wind and solar power! They never fail!

I read Germany used to get 70% of its coal from Russia, if true, it really puts in perspective how badly these clowns in Europe are screwed.

First step to energy independence is to understand that Man Made Climate change is a hoax.

Second step is to remove all rules and regulations that were imposed because of the hoax.

Third step stop supporting pie in the sky green energy.

Last step return to safe and proven means of creating energy.

Germany and England still have vast unused coal reserves of their own, they don’t need Russia

that’s the whole point of doing this

(now get the nuclear plants back in operation too, and totally cut off Russia)

Germany powered down three of its six remaining nuclear power plants Saturday [January 1, 2022], making good on a government pledge to denuclearize after the 2011 meltdown of Japan's Fukushima reactor, Reuters reported.

Hard to say what state the German coal plants are in.

I've heard shuttered, and I've heard bulldozed.

I know for a fact that the Watermelons in my area gleefully got two coal plants razed and bulldozed, so it's probably like a Muzzie thing, where the 'Loids occupy another religion's holy site and build a mosque on it.

The Greens return the energy production sites of their enemies to Mother Gaia.

Now they just need to find a bunch of people willing to mine it, rebuild the infrastructure to get it to power plants. Oh, and rebuild the coal fired plants they tore down.

The 2021 amount...for industry, steel plants, and coal-power plants was around 54-percent of all coal coming from Russia.

They can find alternate contracts, but all of this means ships are involved (not railways).

This is Exhibit A of why the claims that the Ukraine war was some kind of leftist are bogus. An extended war in Ukraine is the last thing that the European left, WEF, etc.
wanted.

On New Year’s Eve [2021], the last remaining operational unit (1288MW) at RWE’s Gundremmingen nuclear power plant was taken off the grid for good, as were E.ON’s Brokdorf (1410MW) and Grohnde (1360MW) facilities.

Furthermore, RWE also disconnected several coal-burning units – Neurath B (300MW), Niederaussem C (300MW) and Weisweiler E (300MW).

RWE notes (with a degree of bitterness) that between 2020 and 2022, it will have decommissioned power stations with a combined capacity of more than 7,000 megawatts. RWE says the remaining ~440 employees at Gundremmingen will continue working “through to the 2030s” on post-shutdown operations and deconstruction work at Gundremmingen; indicating how complex (and costly) decommissioning a nuclear plant is.

More Coal, All Remaining Nuclear To Go In 2022

Starting in April, RWE will commence a new round of nuclear and coal power decommissioning; kicking off with another 300 MW coal-burner at Neurath in April. Then at the end of the year, the company will shut down the two 600 MW units at the same location, and its Emsland nuclear power plant in Lingen.

That leaves E.ON’s Isar Ohu (1410MW) and EnBW’s Neckarwestheim 2 (1310MW) nuclear facilities, which will meet the same fate on December 31 this year [2022].

Heavens! I do believe that I have an energy schadenb*ner!!

RWE AG is a German multinational energy company headquartered in Essen. It generates and trades electricity in Asia-Pacific, Europe and the United States. The company is the world's number two in offshore wind power and Europe's third largest in renewable energy.
