A HUGE sunspot which doubled in size over a 24-hour period is now directly facing Earth, meaning a large solar flare could strike the planet.
The sunspot, known as AR3038, doubled in size between Sunday and Monday night. Now, it has turned to face the Earth, sparking concerns that rapid solar winds could pelt towards the Blue Planet. And stunning footage from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory on Sunday shows how the huge sunspot has been evolving.
Experts at Spaceweather.com explained: "Yesterday, sunspot AR3038 was big.
"Today, it's enormous. The fast-growing sunspot has doubled in size in only 24 hours.
"AR3038 has an unstable 'beta-gamma' magnetic field that harbors energy for M-class solar flares, and it is directly facing Earth."
And if these come into contact with the Earth, they have the potential to cause /// a ,,;;;; //// xxx ……..ch … ///// ………((((((( /////. ……….::::. ///….

Women, minorities, and Starlink hardest hit.
So the spot has a number eh? Why not give it a name like hurricanes?
I love SciFi, especially books.
RAH, PKD, etc.
LGBTQ___ hit hardest.

The alphabet people get hardest hit you trans / homophobe!! THEN followed by woman and minorities.
Are you using GPS to tractor or the DGPS that the railroad and the barge pushers use on the big Rivers, which is run by the Coast Guard?
Me too.
I read Heinlein, Asimov, Clarke, Herbert, etc....................
I really enjoy the creativity involved in all the potential possibilities.
It’s the combo of intelligence, technology, and creativity…
Global warming...er Solar warming to blame.
Just realized it’s to occur on the Solstice.
Pagans and Druids will be going bonkers…
Big deal! The sun doesn’t have an affect on this planet. Only people can change our climate. /s
Seems to me that it wasn’t that long ago when we were told that solar flares would be decreasing & to expect that this might mean cooler weather. Why can’t they own up to the idea that maybe these solar flares can’t be predicted & as a result of that any possible weather changes due to the flares also are unpredictable? Or does our president(who can do anything he wants to) have a way of affecting solar flares? Maybe our Energy Secretary (who also has her head where it doesn’t belong) thinks she has a way of increasing energy for solar collectors so they produce more energy on demand. Both of them need to get their heads out of the clouds & do what they can do....which is to get the price of energy/oil down to a reasonable level. Leave the energy from the sun up to someone who knows what He is doing.
While sunspots follow a predictable cycle, and flares come from sunspots, flares themselves can only be predicted at best a few hours ahead of time.
Uh oh. The death star is about to let her rip.
Cover all your vehicles with a lead blanket. Quick!
I own it on dvd. I watched it several times. I really enjoy it. It is a compelling story. And it’s got the best airplane crash scene in CGI I’ve ever seen.
False flag cover for an EMP attack???
Solar Storms only target the Crazy Left ,LOL
