Mo Brooks calls for ALGOP to disqualify Katie Britt on eve of U.S. Senate runoff

With less than 24 hours until Republican voters go to select their choice for who will represent the GOP in November's U.S. Senate election, U.S. Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Huntsville) is calling for his opponent, former Business Council of Alabama head Katie Britt, to be disqualified for what he claimed as supporting Doug Jones in his 2017 U.S. Senate bid against then-Republican candidate Roy Moore.

Brooks' overtures about the 2017 election have been a fixture on the campaign trail during this 2022 cycle.

However, on Monday's broadcast of Mobile radio FM Talk 106.5's "The Jeff Poor Show," Brooks called the Alabama Republican Party to formally disqualify Britt as a Republican candidate.

Sour grapes or does he have a point? A lot of Democrats voted in the GOP primary because they view Mo Brooks as a threat in the Senate...

I wonder if the gopE put Brooks up to his little speech about getting over the 2020 steal? That was most likely the end of his political career.

I’m sure DJT gave him a chance to publicly restate his comment about 2020, but it didn’t happen.

We the People are really fighting a two-front war, the Democrats and the Republicans.

I’m not sure about two fronts, they all look like the same STD to me.

Shelby lasted as long as he did in the senate because he brought home pork... lots of it... for many years. He’s basically a deep south version of Robert Byrd.

Brooks is a budget hawk, a hard budget hawk, so every hand in Alabama that has been greased over the last several decades by Shelby (and that is most every hand in the state party leadership) is against Brooks. Having, then losing the Trump endorsement (which was about as carefully thought out and principles-based as the Dr. Oz endorsement) was probably the last straw for this cycle for him. Hopefully he will find another prominent role somewhere in the near future.

Katie Britt was likely a big part of the Shelby appropriations machine, but she won’t have his seniority in the senate if elected, so it remains to be seen if she can weasel into his spot on appropriations, or one with some similar influence.

Will she be a solid R vote? Sure. Will she try to change the course of Washington to one that more responsibly handles the fiscal realities of this world? No.

Britt will get over 60% of the vote tomorrow.

It is a shame to watch Brooks disgrace himself with this foolishness. By pulling this stunt he has proven Trump right to dump him. Bye bye Woe Brooks.

I first heard of Mo Brooks back when i listened to Mark Levin regularly ( Roy Moore fiasco). I listened to him get ridiculed and booed off stage at a Trump rally last year. I never got what people see in him. I find him in the Jeff Session mode of politician. Its just cold soup to me….completely underwhelming

Mo is spot on. Katie Britt was CEO of the Business Council of Alabama who didn’t support Roy Moore in the 2017 senate election. They suggested write-ins or some garbage. This helped elect the dem Doug Jones. So yeah it is a fair attack. Just late in the game.

I will vote for Mo on Tuesday. However Britt is the establishment candidate and is expected to win. I doubt she will be the end of the world but is not expected to be a conservative fighter like Mo Brooks. Once again outsiders are screwing around in an Alabama Senate election and working against the more conservative candidate.

As an AL voter, we agree. In a close Senate where every single vote counts, she can not be counted on to stand for the conservative cause.

Would she vote to pass the pending gun bill now in the Senate? She would likely join the 10 who have announced support for the new gun control.

We need Mo!

Watch the second video on this link and see what Mo Brooks really thinks about the steal. Little over 2 minutes.

I gotta disagree. He's the reincarnation of Howell Heflin, aka Foghorn Leghorn (I miss Rush).

Sour grapes or does he have a point?

More like desperation - doesn't sound like someone confident of victory if he believes the only way he can win is to not have an opponent - so his internal polls must be matching up with the public polls.

The “he” in my post refers to Shelby, not Brooks.
