Massive Gun Control Bill HR7910 Passes House, Bans Magazines and More

On Wednesday, June 8, 2022, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 7910, euphemistically titled “Protecting Our Kids Act,” 223 for to 204 against. The bill was passed primarily along party lines, with Democrats and Republicans voting against it.

The bill is a collection of long-standing Progressive efforts to restrict people from having access to some of the most popular rifles and shotguns in the country.

As has become the norm, Progressives are using a rare, emotional event to push sweeping legislation across the finish line, which could not be done through reasoned debate.

This is precisely the opposite of how legislative decisions should be made. It maximizes the power of the Media to control legislation through emotional manipulation.  The Congressional Budget Office lists the primary effects of the legislation. From the Congressional Budget Office (cbo.com):

H.R. 7910 would change federal gun laws by creating new federal crimes and expanding federal firearms regulations. Specifically, the bill would:

Having quickly read the bill, this correspondent notes the bill also raises the purchasing age for semi-auto shotguns. The broad language of the bill would have far-reaching effects. From the bill:

“(B) any semiautomatic centerfire rifle or semiautomatic centerfire shotgun that has, or has the capacity to accept, an ammunition feeding device with a capacity exceeding

When you start with false premises, it is difficult to find a real solution.

Gun control starts with false premises.

This is not even close to what they’re not proposing.

Find a real solution? To what? They aren’t looking for a solution to some problem. They are looking for gun control because they want gun control. They want gun control because they want total control.

Wouldn’t surprise me that it barely gets out of the starting gate before significant parts of it are challenged and struck down. And that is after if actually passes through the Senate.

Absolutely NONE of what they're proposing will stop the next mass school shooting.

The ONLY thing they're doing is making criminals of every law-abiding gun owner in this country.

Brother Dean, I know with certainty, you MUST be aware that this bill is meaningless. The only meaningful bill is what the Senate put together this Sunday. That bill is far less ambitious.

The solution is already in place. The solution is the second amendment to the constitution. The bill in question is the US Congress attempt to make a law

“Ban the import, sale, manufacture, transfer, and possession of large-capacity ammunition feeding devices;”

Good luck with that.

It’s a wet dream wish list for libs.

This at the end of the article:

“Commentary:

The overall thrust of the bill is to put the federal government firmly in control of the ownership and sale of firearms in the United States, effectively nullifying the Second Amendment.

The bill seems unlikely to pass the Senate. The votes of 60 senators would be required to overcome the Senate filibuster rule.”

They know it won’t pass in the senate so they’ll use it to make repubs the bad guys that are OK with killing children.....it’s a tactic loosely based on pushing wheelchair bound grandma over a cliff.

Any word in that bill about extending prison time for criminals using guns in a crime? Any word about gang violence will no longer be tolerated? Any word about unregistered firearms?

No?

“large-capacity ammunition feeding devices;”

A bit of a subjective statement wouldn’t you say?

I can see the left defining that as anything over 2 rounds.

“They aren’t looking for a solution to some problem.”

Yes they are. The problem is free citizens with the right to bear arms.

If they were serious about protecting government school students from mass shootings they would repeal Joe Biden's Gun-Free School Zone Act, but they are not interested in protecting them, just using their deaths for political leverage.

REPEAL THE GUN-FREE SCHOOL ZONE ACT OF 1990
