DeSantis beats Trump in 2024 straw poll a second time at Colorado conservative summit

Gov. Ron DeSantis once again swept a straw poll for 2024 presidential candidates at a Colorado conservative conference Saturday, beating out former former President Donald Trump and other possible contenders.

The attendees of the Western Conservative Summit, organized by the Centennial Institute, a think tank associated with Colorado Christian University, approved of a potential DeSantis candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination at 71%, with Trump coming in at 67%.

The straw poll was conducted based on an "approval" system, which allowed attendees to vote for more than one candidate that they could support.

DeSantis won the 2024 straw poll last year at the Western Conservative Summit, narrowly edging out Trump. DeSantis received 74% approval to Trump's 71% in 2021.

You're saying since deep state and the media hate Trump, we better not vote for him or else our badly divided nation might not survive a second Trump presidency, so we batter choose yet another lawyer turned career politician.

Yes, no one who actually represents America can be President (except Trump), apparently.

What you said:

Trump's Achilles is his personnel instincts. They're a virtual dumpster fire. Sessions, the Mooch, Bolton, Tillersn, Mattis, Giuliani, McCabe, Nikki Haley, Sally Yates, Flynn, Hope Hicks, Reince Priebus, Rod Rosenstein. Oh, and Pence. And now Kevin McCarthy.

He failed him as a consigliere. It wasn’t an intentional backstabbing. But Rudy was drunk and out of his league. And Trump wouldn’t pull the plug out of loyalty.

2024 is irrelevant unless we fix 2020. There is already rampant fraud going on in Georgia in the primaries.

I like Desantis/Greene (as in Marjorie Taylor Greene). That would be a super powerful team up. Heck, I would vote for MTG at the top of the ticket.

Trump would be wise to play the King maker. Timing is everything. He has a way of exposing the Deep State even though he couldn’t drain the Swamp.
No one in their right mind would want to go through the fire he went through. And few would want a repeat of the last term with their main objective to crush the MAGA agenda. The MAGA agenda needs to reform from scratch with new players draining the opposition’s energy playing whack a mole with their futile Branding.

Since Trump was robbed and swindled by massive election fraud, no one but Trump deserves to be elected. And this is exactly what is going to happen.

After that, you folks can go back to electing yet more lawyers turned career politicians. Because that’s work out so well going back many decades!

Not at all. Rudy didn't fail Trump and I don't know where you get your information from about Rudy being drunk.

While I certainly love Trump, he has two big negatives going for him that makes me prefer DeSantis:

One more. Her personality is sort of radioactive. I love Trump but a lot of people hate him. DeSantis won't hate to worry about the haters. He'll get people in Northern Virgina, Atlanta and Denver to vote for him while keeping the MAGA base.

Agree. DeSantis / Paul 2024

Paul could pull much of the younger vote with his anti corruption / common sense POV. He thinks on his feet and is fearless.

Yea, I’m tired of outsiders like Trump. Lets get back to Republican roots and vote for well connected insiders and lawyers turned career politician, like Bush, Clinton, Biden, Obama, etc.

Trump did great in 2016. 2020 wasn't fair but it is what it is. I'm looking forward to 2024. DeSantis would be the better option. We'll get 8 years with him. So far he has a great track record in Florida.

Please use some logic, does it legally stop him from running, no, but it will practically stop him.

BS political indictments are SOP for Democrats, look at all the people in the Trump administration that have been indicted or pled guilty, all of them on BS charges, look at the 1/6 people still in jail on BS charges, to think they would not charge Trump is naive at best.

In my opinion, it would be hard for him to win the nomination, which he would ultimately prevail, but some percentage of the population would never for vote for someone facing criminal charges, regardless of their validity.

We still need DeSantis here to keep Florida together as it is going thru growing pains. The liberal wolves from the blue states are at the door just waiting to pounce .
