I was chatting with a horrified Swedish visitor who described a visit to Nevada.
“There was this grandmother, an elderly lady, and she took out a gun from her purse,” he told me, shaking his head.
We were having this conversation in a city which had racked up 77 shootings in just one month.
Few New Yorkers legally own guns. The NYPD has issued around 40,000 handgun permits in a city of over 8 million. That’s around one handgun for every two-hundred New Yorkers.
Don’t assume that the parts of the city with the most guns are the most dangerous.
The vast majority of handgun permits are in Staten Island, which has the lowest crime rate in the city, as opposed to the Bronx, with the highest. Manhattan has few legal guns relative to its population while the white working class areas of Brooklyn have some of the most legal guns.
The Daily News, which interviewed a criminologist as part of its anti-gun crusade, found that he was "puzzled". “Some people see a mugging in the Bronx, and they want to get a gun on Staten Island,” he argued. “That’s not rational, but some people really want guns.”
Perhaps one of the reasons that there are fewer muggings in Staten Island is that more of the folks there can prevent them. Muggers, like most predators, prefer victims who don’t fight back.

The swedes are part of the caliphate now.
Grandmas’ got a Gun!
Just hope shes a good handler in Safety.
i favor both concealed and open carry as smart and also as our fully legal constitutional rights
but open carry has the advantage of visibly reminding any criminals that they likely will not get away with attacking innocent Americans or ripping them off
it lowers crime in the first place.. which is even better than its role as a defense against that crime that still can happen
When I went to Israel the travel agent made a point of “warning” me that there would be lots of armed people on the streets. I asked if they would be people who wanted to shoot me and was told they would be soldiers of the IDF. I said “then I will feel safe”. And I did.

This is why its useless to have Sweden in NATO. Any spine and self-respect has been bred out of these ABBA cucks by generations of progressive, globalist, feminist rule.
Keep to keep a volatile Turkey in, and tell these woke fools to stay neutral and avoid angering Russia.
Does anyone ask the obvious question where are the criminals, teenage car jackers and street thugs getting their guns? I doubt many of those shooting up our cities are walking into gun stores presenting a valid picture ID, filling out all the paperwork, undergoing an FBI background check and having a three day waiting period before they get their gun. Even in places like “gun free” Australia there are gun crimes with the perpetrators obviously able to get firearms from someplace.
Is your life worth protecting? If so, whose responsibility is it to protect it? If you believe that it is the police's, not only are you wrong -- since the courts universally rule that they have no legal obligation to do so -- but you face some difficult moral quandaries. How can you rightfully ask another human being to risk his life to protect yours, when you will assume no responsibility yourself? Because that is his job and we pay him to do it? Because your life is of incalculable value, but his is only worth the $30,000 salary we pay him? If you believe it reprehensible to possess the means and will to use lethal force to repel a criminal assault, how can you call upon another to do so for you?

Gun control is a moral crusade against a benighted, barbaric citizenry....Conservatives must understand that the antipathy many liberals have for gun owners arises in good measure from their statist utopianism...The private ownership of firearms is a rebuke to this utopian zeal. To own firearms is to affirm that freedom and liberty are not gifts from the state. It is to reserve final judgment about whether the state is encroaching on freedom and liberty, to stand ready to defend that freedom with more than mere words, and to stand outside the state's totalitarian reach.

Our society suffers greatly from the beliefs that only official action is legitimate and that the state is the source of our earthly salvation. Both liberal and conservative prescriptions for violent crime suffer from the "not in my job description" school of thought regarding the responsibilities of the law-abiding citizen, and from an overestimation of the ability of the state to provide society's moral moorings. As long as law-abiding citizens assume no personal responsibility for combatting crime, liberal and conservative programs will fail to contain it.

At one time this was even understood by the Supreme Court. In United States v. Cruikshank (1876), the first case in which the Court had an opportunity to interpret the Second Amendment, it stated that the right confirmed by the Second Amendment "is not a right granted by the constitution. Neither is it in any manner dependent upon that instrument for its existence." The repeal of the Second Amendment would no more render the outlawing of firearms legitimate than the repeal of the due process clause of the Fifth Amendment would authorize the government to imprison and kill people at will. A government that abrogates any of the Bill of Rights, with or without majoritarian approval, forever acts illegitimately, becomes tyrannical, and loses the moral right to govern.
This is the uncompromising understanding reflected in the warning that America's gun owners will not go gently into that good, utopian night: "You can have my gun when you pry it from my cold, dead hands." While liberals take this statement as evidence of the retrograde, violent nature of gun owners, we gun owners hope that liberals hold equally strong sentiments about their printing presses, word processors, and television cameras. The republic depends upon fervent devotion to all our fundamental rights.
Ping on my post above.
Israel felt like HOME when I spent 10 days in the
Old City of Jerusalem.
That is an excellent piece.
Thanks,

There are also different licenses in NY. To get a CCW you have to show cause as to you need one.
There is a New York State license: target, hunting, premise, and CCW in certain cases.
Then there is a NYC permit: Good Luck. They have law firms that specialize in guiding someone through that labyrinth.
One isn’t valid in the other. NYC has their own rules.
Oddly, get outside the NYC metro area, even 2 or 3 counties away and the state is full of conservatives, Republicans, hunters, etc.
NY, like California and other Blue States, is the way it is because of a few major cities and metro areas.
Enact some type of sectoral college system where each county, regardless of population, gets an equal number of votes and NY State has a Republican Governor, Lt Gov, AG, SecState.
I can’t wait to return. Nazareth and climbing Masada were the high points for me.
Good Stuff,Still !
Bueno.
Thank you for that. Should be required reading.
Two of the first people we met when we came to this little Alaska town were the Police Captain and his wife. About two weeks after we arrived they invited us out for a range day and a short hike. He asked me what I was carrying (My Commander is always concealed in town). When I told him “.45 Colt’s Commander” He nodded with approval but said he preferred the full size 1911 that was his duty arm.
He asked what PR was carrying. He likewise approved of her .357 S&W. Then he told PR and me to “Carry always”, as he and his wife do and.
I hasten to note that this is emphatically NOT because of crime. We have dangerous wildlife here.
.45? .357? Meh! A lot of us prefer 9mm lung poppers. 😂🙌
Trying to interject morality as a gun control by issue progressive enemies who are absent all morals just defies logic
Taking up the issue of morality for sake of argument, all progressives should be eradicated, wiped out , in order to save America.
The AP and all there are American enemies and must be exterminated. So goes their logic
