A man entered a hospital in Encino on Friday and stabbed three medical professionals, officials said.
The man was armed with a knife when he entered Encino Hospital Medical Center around 3:50 p.m., Los Angeles police spokesman Drake Madison said.
A doctor and two staff nurses were stabbed and transported to a trauma center, a representative for the hospital said.
They suffered what were described as critical injuries, but officials stressed the information was preliminary.
The assailant is believed to be contained to a room at the hospital, the LAPD said.
Madison described the man as being barricaded. He said that SWAT was sent to the hospital.
We need common sense knife control.

A problem easily solved by metal detectors. But then you would need an armed guard or two for it to be effective. We can’t have armed guards where there are lots of people, apparently. It’s racist or something. Gun free zones are much better because all the criminals feel safe.

I am amazed they didnt havemetal detectors and guards there. I live in a smaller area than LA and my hospitals have both, even in the er area. Or especially in the er area.

Every time I enter a medical facility with that
“No weapons allowed” sign, my blood boils at the stupidity.
Attacks on doctors and hospital staff are frequent and a concealed carrier would be invaluable in these cases. So here we have another gun free zone example.
Now I will admit that if you are a patient or a person going in for examination or tests that require removing clothes, you do not want to be carrying because you would at times not in immediate possession of your weapon...but ordinary visitors should be allowed to carry.
We have had too many events where people were killed or injured because the cops could not get there in time.
My last sentence was a goof.
Almost every person killed was killed with no cop present. The mass killing at the Florida school and the recent one in Texas where cops did nothing were not the way death usually comes.
An assault knife that can kill a dozen without needing to be reloaded.
The knife lobby is the NRA: National Restaurateurs Association.
There’s no rationale basis for a high caliber knife that cuts the lung out of the body.
