The FBI placed former White House economic adviser Peter Navarro in attempted assassin John Hinckley Jr.’s jail cell after they arrested him for being in contempt of Congress.
Federal authorities arrested Navarro on Friday after a grand jury indicted him for contempt of Congress. Navarro told reporters outside the courthouse that the arresting officers put him in Hinckley’s old cell. Hinckley was recently released after serving more than four decades in prison following his failed assassination attempt on former President Ronald Reagan.

Would-be assassin John Hinckley is now out on unconditional release, and Navarro is placed in a jail cell for ignoring a January 6th subpoena. This country is truly f*cked up.
Sorry, just trying to add some levity. The FBI needs to be shuttered. It's that simple.

But why would Navarro try to defend himself instead of getting a lawyer? That sounds like an unwise choice for him to make.

Looks like another reporter that doesn't know how to use the internet. Hinkley was released from the psychiatric hospital a half decade ago. He's been under increasingly less supervision since then.
Hinkley had been found not guilty by reason of insanity and released from BoP custody back in 1981 (and was immediately locked up in a psychiatric hospital.)
So, unless this story is from 40 years ago, it needs a lot of work.
Peter Navarro has MEGA MAGA friends and this is a major screwup by the Biden Crime Family.

I’m surprised the FBI didn’t turn that cell into a shrine to Hinckly, the man who shot Reagan.
