We are comparing one highly evidenced, thorough, forensic count with one that someone at the Kremlin wrote on a beermat based on no real numbers at all.
There was one occasion where a press source published Rusfia’s casualty estimate based on intel from Ukraine and DPR. It was pulled from thrir website within half an hour because people can’t even be allowed to see what the other side is claiming based on verified data.

There are a lot of people in this country who would fight beyond the official retirement age for soldiers too. That said, getting willing volunteers is always better than conscripts; already trained and some refresher training and small arms qualification then off to the front.
Russia doesnt give a crap about 30,00 causalities (even if these numbers are right). They took well over 200,000 in their failed Afghanistan campaign. And World War II, we dont go there. Communists don’t care at all about how many people they get killed, even their own soldiers.

Body counts were a big deal in the Vietnam War news, especially counts of the enemy dead. If Russia already has 30,000 dead in 4 months, just compare that with US Vietnam dead of almost 60,000 during 10 to 20 years fighting there. And we had roound twice the population then as Russia has now. Imagine the popular reaction in Russia if they had the news coverage we had during Vietnam.

I would strongly suspect that, unless Ukraine surrenders very soon, the Russians will take Odessa and control all of the Black Sea coastline.
