Four years ago, when — as now — the nation was reeling from the horror of a mass school shooting, a retired Supreme Court justice suggested a radical solution: getting rid of the Second Amendment.
John Paul Stevens issued the call after 17 people were killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., in February 2018. The attack prompted hundreds of thousands to demand action the next month to end gun violence at the March for Our Lives.
In a March 27, 2018, New York Times op-ed, Stevens praised the protesters and their call for stricter gun control laws. “But the demonstrators should seek more effective and more lasting reform,” he wrote, about a year before his death at 99. “They should demand a repeal of the Second Amendment.”
Stevens said the amendment was adopted out of concern that a national standing army might pose a threat to the security of the states. “Today that concern is a relic of the 18th century,” he wrote.

John Stevens was a relic of the nineteenth century.
And, another *17* people injured.
Teen gunman kills 17, injures 17 at Parkland, Florida high school
That’s a great idea and while you are at it melt down every gun on the planet. After that you will see that those bent will on killing will find another weapon of choice.
NO
In Norway the killer took a bow and arrow to the grocery store to attack people.
If one wants to remove the 2nd Amendment.....you might as well remove the 1st Amendment at the same time. Then we avoid any discussions or complaints in the future.
People called the FBI to report Nikolai Cruz and what he had planned, but the FBI did nothing.
Give it time...
SUV’s can be deadly weapons’ too....
What about needles? Those probably killed more than 17. Ban needles, too? What about all the good do e with needles? Does that matter? Or just ban them all?
The label itself is “Rights”.
It's as if sometimes these crazed gunman have a number in mind, and keep killing and injuring until that number is reached, and then they are done.
The Second Amendment protects the First Amendment.
Then you will have to ban Teens and Youths
Free speech, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to speak publicly, to publish, to peaceably assemble, to freely worship, and to protest the government for a redress of grievances shall not be infringed.Repeal that!

“In Norway the killer took a bow and arrow to the grocery store to attack people.”
Exactly! The uncle of a friend of mine was murdered by a gang of thugs who used piping from a chain link fence to beat him to death. No gun involved.
Fortunately, they’ve already planted this oath-breaking stooge.
Amazing how many actually think the 2A created the Right to Keep and Bear arms.
It is CONFIRMATION of the pre-existing right.
Repealing the 2A would not repeal our right to Arms.
Might make for a lot of wealthy lawyers, and no doubt many of tyrannical inclination might be emboldened to make their move, but the actual right would remain.
Largest mass killing in US history used a stolen gallon of gasoline in a found plastic milk jug.
