Security footage from Robb Elementary School in Texas shows that a back door was propped open by a teacher before Tuesday's deadly mass shooting, Texas law enforcement officials said.
At 11:27 a.m. on Tuesday morning, the door that police believe was used by the 18-year-old gunman to enter the school was propped open by a teacher, Director of Texas Department of Public Safety Steven McCraw said at a Friday press conference.
McCraw said the detail was confirmed through "video evidence."
After the gunman crashed his vehicle in a ditch just a minute later, the teacher ran to get a phone and walked back to the propped-open door.
Two men at a nearby funeral home heard the crash and went to the scene, only to find the gunman exit the vehicle. The men ran as they were shot at, but were not hit.
Through security footage inside the school, McGraw said the teacher panicked and called police at 11:30 a.m. to report the crash and gunman.
Eventually, at 11:33 a.m. the gunman entered the school through the door, barricaded himself inside a classroom and massacred 19 children and two adults.
McCraw said police who arrived at the scene were told by a commander not to engage with the shooter because they believed there was no more threat to children.

Poorly written article. I went to the link to see if there is more info, but MSN presented me only a blank page with three attempts.
I wonder if the teacher (if it WAS actually a teacher, not a three letter agency handler) was a co-conspirator, or just an idiot.
Just raises more suspicions for tin hatters like me..
That "is" the $999 question....
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
Maybe there was no a/c in the classroom, or it was on the fritz. No way this was some sort of preplanned scheme or open invitation to mass murder.
Was the school a No Phone Zone also. Evidently not, since the kids were calling 911. Why didn’t that get explained to the cops? We’re they waiting around for the Border Patrol cops to show up?
That’s what I was thinking, too. They probably had a habit of opening the door to let in fresh air.
The politicians will go on and on about gun control and mental health.
But, a simple locked door would’ve stopped the killer.
Also, the school should’ve had an alarm system with a siren, instead of texting/emailing teachers that a killer has entered the building.
That’s something I can’t even comprehend.
Admittedly I have no sort of training in such situations but I can’t imagine, whether following orders or not, just waiting around and doing nothing.
The life of a child is far more valuable than my own.
Cops will get a commendation for successfully guarding an abortion clinic.
Border Patrol showed up because one of them was married to one of the teachers, and she called him when the shooting started. He jumped up from the barber’s chair and headed straight to the school . . . where dozens of local “law enforcement officers” were loitering in the parking lot.
Or the teachers and cops were involved in a conspiracy for the purpose of pushing gun control.
Liberals will do anything to pimp their narrative
I just heard the teacher propped open the door to go get her or his cell phone. Don’t ask me the details I am just telling you what they said at the presser. Why she didn’t close it I have no idea, maybe she was in the car when he entered. At any rate it was terminal stupidity and I’ll bet there will be a suicide in the very near future.
When you couple this bit of news with the report that the gunman fired his weapon for 12 minutes OUTSIDE before entering, All I can say is God have mercy on that teacher.
This is looking more and more like a staged event.
I guess the new meme will be. “It’s ok to mess with Texas “
I anticipate that she will be terminated and will relocate...
Who could continue living in that community?
I don’t know the reasons for this school but it is now coming to light that a lot of schools have been propping doors open for Covid mitigation.
Maybe she didn’t want to take her key to have to try and reopen it under gun fire. Then she ran back in and forgot to take out the door stop.
Since it was the teacher’s parking lot, she also probably got used to not locking her car doors so she didn’t need her keys or jey fob to get in.
The teacher “propped open” the door the gunman then used to enter the school? That teacher should be investigated intensely imo.
My guess, but it’s backed by many years of teaching, was that if the door was propped open for longer than it took to get a phone, it was so the teacher could load his or her car with stuff from the classroom. Vacation was just a day or two away.
In the day-to-day life of a school, doors are often propped open. Remember, this was an ordinary end-of-the-school-year day. No one was thinking, “I’ll bet there’s a shooter out there just waiting for a chink in the school’s armor”. Only through hindsight do we now know the danger everyone was in.
I remember when the Florida shooting occurred, telling students how much they were going to see school change. Gates were installed to keep people from driving into the middle of the school, virtually all doors leading outside were always locked, visitors had to be buzzed into the school, had to sign in and wear tags. And we acquired a full-time armed sheriff’s deputy/’resource officer’. None of this was S.O.P. before then.
For years parents were free to walk into the school and go to their kids’ classrooms. Talk to the teacher, etc. etc. and nothing bad came of it. We didn’t run our school on the assumption that at any time a crazy might try to shoot the place up, because it never happened...until one day it did.
But in the tens of thousands of schools across the country, nothing did happen. But now all of us are going to have to act like it could.
Anything to deflect from the cowardly cops letting kids be murdered.
If that door was closed there might not been any massacre.
