Texas Department Public Safety spokesman Lt. Christopher Olivarez confirmed to a reporter during a live shot that police officers went into Robb Elementary School to get their own children during the massacre.
Amid outrage over reports that frantic families who complained about police inaction during the massacre were held back by police, a clip of a live interview with Olivarez from Tuesday has gone viral.

When there is an armed citizen present, the shooter rarely if ever gets more than one or two.
When its the cops they routinely loiter for an hour and the body count is a lot higher.
The cops are far more concerned with making it to the end of their shift. Citizens want to protect their friends, neighbors, and children.
People who make the decision to carry already know they are bringing a crap storm down on themselves if they ever have to use their gun, and have made the decision that the alternative is far worse.
And nobody called a “school resource officer” is likely to incur any more inconvenience for themselves than donut stains on their shirt.
That area is full of Border Patrol, DPS, etc. Many live in the area. Hotspot for illegals / smugglers.
The Cops have No Honor. In my mind I saw Tombstone 1888, Watt Earp turning to Doc Holiday and saying “The Cowboys all have guns, Lets call for back up and wait for the Marshals to come. If we try to do anything—one of us might be shot.” Such talk never happened in the West— Once America was the home of the Brave—No More. NOTE—Our enemies see this. What is Putin thinking when he reads about what One kid did and our response? He’s laughing his head off. What about Xi of China?
If Texas can’t defend their own children—will the USA defend anyone’s children?
Reportedly one or more classes were being shown a Disney film in lieu of “education”. That teachers were among the victims implies that they were in the rooms (as opposed to the old, “start a film and leave for a break” gambit). Two unfounded guesses: 1) The film audio drowned out the twelve minutes of gunfire in front of the school, as well as intercom announcements, if any; 2) the sound from the films attracted the murderer to those very rooms.
Reportedly one or more classes were being shown a Disney film in lieu of “education
Hard to believe the film would drown out gunfire, but the P.A. system? If your hear it and don’t understand it, you stop the movie and call the office. Plus, any announcement of a shooter is going to be repeated many, many times—it won’t be a one-off brief sort of thing.
So far, we’ve heard nothing of what was going on in the school while the shooting was going on except for the shooting itself. All of the other classrooms were locked and from what I’ve heard, no child or teacher was hurt in any other class.
1) the brave ones dint rescue ONLY their children!
2) 19:1 odds
3) the cops could have been shot so they retreated
WTAF do they think the job is... writing speeding tickets???
terminate them all and revoke any and all leo credentials.
oh Dear Lord.....
“WHY didn’t SOMEONE lock the ******g school down - probably just by mashing one single button?”
If such technology exists, $ 40 Billion is more than enough money to pay for every single school in the United States to have it installed. That 40,000 times 1 million dollars could have been better used here at home protecting our children.
Couldn’t be a better argument for gun ownership.
15 M ?
Even if they have that painted on the car, police are under no obligation to protect anyone. I believe there’s case law on that. Not saying it’s right....just sayin’.
Cannot advocate defunding police, but defunding these cowardly lowlifes sworn to serve and protect is now job One-A
Yeah, I know but they paint that all over the place.
I didn’t catch what he did, but it wouldn’t surprise me. The fact that even I’ve seen the failures of waiting 40 minutes to go in and shoot the shooter been reported in the New York Times and CNN really destroys their gun control narrative. CNN and the New York Times could do their best to ignore this but they’re kind of pushing this heavily.
I kind have a feeling they want the sound bites to claim they’re doing something about guns but don’t want it to pass because they know it hurts them politically every time they do and will use the media cover of the failure of the local police to justify it.
Almost identical except I think in this case the idiot local police waited even longer. While still not clear it seems that the border patrol basically ignored local police and went in and did what they should’ve done in the first five or so minutes from once they had a decent number of officers on scene.
That is the question I don’t understand. From the reports I’ve read he crashed nearby and was outside with the rifle for about 10 minutes. I don’t believe for a second that wasn’t called in to police who should’ve immediately notified the schools in the area of what was going on. I read an article saying this particular school district has had something like 40 lockdowns this year because of border patrol pursuits/activity. It’s not like it was a foreign concept to them and they completely failed.
That is a huge red flag to me. I read recently that this particular school district, maybe not this school in particular has had something like 40 either hard or soft lockdowns, whatever they wanna call it because of border patrol chasing suspects nearby. It wasn’t a foreign concept to them but they never put into practice but something used multiple times and even with the guy who had shot his grandmother, crashed his car outside of school for a good 10 minutes no action was taken. There is a massive failure in communication and if proper action had taken, from locking down the school to officers engaging the crazy guy with a rifle outside the school and shooting him it is likely this tragedy would have been prevented completely .
I think it was by mid-morning the next day that news stories appeared that Schumer was going to "put the brakes on" his big gun control push. Didn't give any reason. Now I think it's because he had his staff shake the tree for local background on the attack; they did a good job and came back to him with a lot of details by next morning, and he realized this wasn't going to evolve in a way he could use to push his gun-grab agenda. So he dropped the big push. For now.
They need a White middle-class conservative whack-job to be the shooter. Preferably a Christian. Stories about the police standing around doing nothing while the shooter uses children for targets don't help. Stories about the shooter being well-known to the police — or police using force to stop parents from rescuing their children — don't help.
The fact that the kids, and the cops, and the chief of police, and pretty much everyone involved were POCs doesn't help.
