I believe he did. The Afghanistan debacle probably sealed it for him.

Yes, maybe the Bush League Republicans should not have assisted the Democrats to cheat Senile Joe in...

Paging Captain Obvious.

Putin knew Trump would never have tolerated another invasion by Russia.

Above all, Trump would have worked to provide Putin with a face-saving climbdown. He would have done the exact opposite of Blinken, who shot his mouth off about "unlimited support" while doing nothing materially to help Ukraine defend itself. Trump would have talked to "his good friend Vlad" while quietly shipping weaponry to Ukraine to make his position clear.

Trump would have found a negotiated peace that would have looked something like what the outcome of the war will be, without the bloodshed and tremendous damage to Ukraine, Russia and the world economy.

Ya think??

And the fact that Zelensky has done sh** during his "reign" to stop the civil war which has been going on since BEFORE 2014.

Ukraine has failed as an Independent Nation.

Interesting that Byron York makes no mention in the article about Biden’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan leaving $80 Billion of advanced military weaponry in the hands of terrorists. Somehow, he also forgot about Biden’s statement on January 19 that nothing would be done if there was a “minor incursion”. This article is more of the same anti-Trump gobligook that we have all come to expect from York.

"Putin saw Biden as someone he could deal with as Russia seized territory from Ukraine."

And it did look like Biden was willing to deal. "He has to do something." "We will put no troops on the ground". Biden did at least warn Russia that there would be severe consequences for invading Ukraine. And Biden did raise the publicly raise the alarm that Putin intended to invade.

But I don't think Biden understood the severity of the consequences. Biden expected to put some more sanctions on Russia until things settled down. But the world erupted in anger at Russia's actions. The sanctions ended up being tougher with Boris Johnson and the UK leading the charge. It was the UK that demanded Russia be kicked off of the Swift system.

Western countries began leaving Russia even without any mandate to do so.

And eventually Europe would start weaning itself off of Russia, although a bit like a baby having it's pacifier taken away.

The other thing unexpected thing that happened is Ukraine stood up and fought and fought hard. Trump had provided $1.2 billion in weapons. Biden had delayed the last shipment of weapons for 8 months.

But once Ukraine started successfully defending itself, then other countries started coming to Ukraine's aid with weapons. Congress eventually got on board, and what could Biden do, except rubber stamp the aid.

It has nothing to do with Trump being impulsive. Trump knows how money flows around and how weak sanctions will be bypassed. He knows how to hurt Russia with real sanctions. He would also throw ice water on tactical nuke threats by making it clear exactly what the repercussions would be. Trump understands deals, extortion threats, and Putin’s primitive thinking. Biden cannot read a teleprompter properly.

Dictators fear a strong America. They laugh at a weak one.
The pattern is obvious to anyone who cares to see it.

Putin invaded Crimea when Obama was president.
Putin behaved when Trump was president.
Putin invaded Ukraine when Biden was president.

Of course, as Trump prevented Ukraine from goading Russia. So the Neocons had to wait to start their war.

Silly question. Just look at the calendar and put events on them. When did the Brandon regime take over and when did Putin invade?

The question is why did he wait, not did he wait. He waited because everyone in the world knew / knows Brandon has no idea what is going on, even in his prime he was dumb as a box of rocks, Brandon has never lead anything and is a follower who has always taken instructions from others, Brandon is totally and completely corrupt. Other than that, not sure why Putin would have waited.
