Senate Democrats say a major floor debate on gun control is inevitable after a mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas, left at least 19 children and two adults dead, only 10 days after another massacre killed 10 people at a supermarket in Buffalo.
The second high-profile killing spree in the span of just more than a week means that Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) will be under heavy pressure to bring a gun-control measure to the floor before the July 4 recess, risking a partisan brawl that could be tough on vulnerable Democrats up for re-election in swing states this fall.
“We need to vote. We need to hold every member of the Senate accountable. Every one of us should be put on the record,” said Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), the chairman of Judiciary’s Constitution Subcommittee, who held a series of hearings last year to address gun violence.
Members of Congress are already taking heat for not having had a serious debate on gun-control measures since 2013, after a 20-year-old gunman killed 20 children and six staff members at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.
“The bottom line is I just watched a girl walk across the plaza that held up a sign that said, ‘This is your fault.’ We need to do something,” said Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.).
“The people that are here aren’t totally crazy. If they can’t see that we need to do something and still protect our Second Amendment rights, then we’re denying a reality that’s happening far too often. This is the second shooting in ten days. We need to figure it out,” he said.

That rumor hasn’t been substantiated.
“I do believe in Red Flag Laws.”
And put yourself at the mercy of an ex-wife or an ex-girlfriend who still has an exe to grind, or just wants to mess with you? A co-worker who just doesn’t like you? A disgruntled neighbor who wants to get back at you over some minor slight? Because that’s what red flag laws become.
Nothing what you said he did/said would have allowed them to detain him. Sounds like a typical teen
America is addicted to violence. Look at our entertainment. Guns and violence everywhere. Look at our video games. Violence has become our god. We worship at the alter. Until we reject the god of violence and turn to the true God of Love this will not get better.
This needs to change.
Secondly, we are a nation devoid of common sense. Look at the TSA security charade. Pure stupid that does little to solve problems. We need real answers, not theater. It is time to lock up violent criminals. It is time to harden our soft targets. And it is time to stop promoting mental illness.
However, because we as a nation deny truth, we will see schemes to limit bayonet lugs and pistol grips on rifles.
When will America wake up? We have gone woke, rather than awakened.
A huge red flag that schools may initially investigate but they drop the ball on follow-up because dealing with the family is too hard or they are a protected class or they are poor. I've seen this first hand where this is the case so the High School just socially promoted this super senior to wash their hands of him and let the local neighborhood, police and courts deal with the mess.
“The people that are here aren’t totally crazy.”
You are crazier than a rabid moon bat if you think criminals will follow some future new law.
Demagoguery on display. “No more debate.”
If they do anything with gun control then they better do something about vote fraud control. Tie the two together in any omnibus bill.

100% WRONG. You are tying a fake issue (gun control) with a real issue (vote fraud). The DNC believes the complete opposite - gun control is real issue / vote fraud is fake.
Nah, we are now a nation of dumb sheep.
The school, like all the others that became sites of mass shootings, was a GFZ. It’s time to ban GFZs. Zero carry-allowed schools have had mass shootings.
Still don’t know how in Hades he got into an elementary school, do we...
Yes. The discussion surrounding this tragedy should be expanded to culture. What influences encouraged this defective unit to crack? Hollywood is a good place to start.
Was he an illegal?
Was he a transsexual?

18 year olds are very flaky these days. They shouldn’t have guns without a strict screening.
Suspicious how quickly they had this bill teed up and ready to go. Never let a crisis go to waste. I guess they learned after Sandy Hook they have to ram something through when everybody is still in crisis mode, because once they start thinking rationally, there is no way this crap passes. Luckily, so far, the only Republican that seems to be pushing gun control is Susan Collins (no shock there) so 60 votes will still likely be an insurmountable climb for democrats. But keep the phones and emails going to Republican Senators to keep them from going wobbly...
Where’d the body armor come from? And the. weapons! The $ to buy? The practicing/range timer?
Who are the parents?

That and the fact that some people actually believe a criminal that's planning a mass murder is going to dutifully march down to the police station and turn in all his guns because a court serves him with a piece of paper saying he can't possess guns anymore.
Here we go again. Another tragedy that the Socialists will not let go to waste. How about getting to the root of the problem. Mental health. That is the common denominator to most of these incidents.
