Salena Zito’s Big Miss about Pennsylvania’s Midterms
American Thinker.com ^ | May 24, 2022 | J. Robert Smith

Posted on 05/24/2022 3:18:37 AM PDT by Kaslin

Salena’s Zito’s latest analysis for the Washington Examiner (“The conservative populist coalition has grown in Pennsylvania. What that means going forward is important”) correctly describes the trend that has been ongoing in the Keystone State for the past decade. What it misses, though -- and it’s a big miss -- is that Democrats are at it again in the commonwealth’s 2022 midterms elections. They’re tilting the playing field in their favor.

This autumn, the “No Questions” mail-in balloting returns have the potential to blunt a favorable GOP trend with a deluge of Democrat ginned up mail-ins, which will impact critical statewide contests and competitive congressional and state legislative races.

Why should American Thinker readers elsewhere care about what happens in Pennsylvania? Because Republicans aim to capture a majority in the U.S. House and Senate.

The GOP is very likely to pick up enough seats across the country to win the House. But gaining a majority in the Senate may hinge on the Mehmet Oz or Dave McCormick-John Fetterman matchup in the autumn. Ironically, the outcome of the razor thin Oz-McCormick fight is bogged down in ballot errors and counting an undetermined number of mail-ins. Per Amac, “it is a mess.”

Thanks to a ruling by the commonwealth’s Democrat-controlled Supreme Court, wide open mail-in balloting was restored. The Court claims there’ll be further review toward a final decision, but who wants to bet that the 5-2 Democrat majority upholds the current law?

The GOP candidate for governor in PA is a clown who promises to eliminate the state’s mail-in voting process … three years after he voted it into law while serving as a state senator.

That’s all you need to know about the misfits and morons in the PA GOP.

Mastriano now claims that he only voted for “No Excuses” mail-in voting because it was an exchange for no longer allowing straight party voting (democrats in Philly would shove tens of blank ballots onto a punch card machine, where they could select ALL democrat candidates). Apparently Mastriano says that they made a deal with Wolf that the mail-in ballot procedure would have safe guards to prevent harvesting. He was a total fool to trust Wolf and the democrats.

Now the GOP will get their clocks cleaned in the general election (even though it favors Republicans). It was stupid to nominate Oz. I wish it were Lou Barletta and Sean Parnell but once again the incompetent GOP screws it up.

“. But gaining a majority in the Senate may hinge on the Mehmet Oz or Dave McCormick-John Fetterman matchup in the autumn.”

This is the kind of garbage journalism that comes from having to write on a deadline.

Warlock is gone.

Kelly is gone

Cortez Masto is gone

Hassan is gone

Republicans in Ct. are actually running a credible can win candidate against Blumenthal.

Saying there is even a chance that a communist like fetterman can win in this cycle is click bait.

My advice to this writer is be honest do your research and stop the click bait.

I support Oz, but McCormick or him would beat fetterman.

Running on socialism this cycle is a road to nowhere for the Democrat/communists.

Let’s face it, the RATS are far more tougher than the spineless GOP. The RATS will fight like hell to derail the GOP’s chances in Nov.

Dems Aren’t going to need hanky lanky to win the GOP senate seat, sure they’ll do it, but aren’t going to need to.

Both the candidates are bad.

OZ is completely off brand and a fraud and MCCormick is just another Bush era Wall Street “Republican”.

Both individually spent more money than was spent by both parties in the last general senate election and neither sold, and neither will sell any better come fall.

Only way either of these two are going to sell this fall is if the D brand is so damaged by Biden and the economy that a ham sandwich would win as long as it has an R by its name…. Otherwise Fetterman eats either of them for breakfast and craps them out by lunch..

GOP or PA is a swamp, and they have screwed the state yet again… the saddest part of all this is even if the damage to the D brand is so great any R will win is that both of these guys will betray the state and their voters on keys issues sooner or later… just more of the same from the Uniparty.

One thing everyone misses regarding what the Republicans passed, is that the Governor okayed the ignoring of several items, such as strict signature confirmation, and a few other things that I no longer can remember exactly what they were.

But I agree with you, that they never should have passed it in the first place. When will Republicans learn that Democrats are not an honorable opposition party? They are a crooked bunch who desire unfettered power. Give them an inch and they will eventually take 100 miles. That is why I despise RINOs, because they always cave to the Democrats like the weak-sisters that they are.

The author is correct. The comments so far on this thread are all over the place and seem weird.

Careful who you’re calling a clown.

Mastriano is a good guy. Trump endorsed him. I voted for him. So did my dear wife.

He did more to expose 2020 demon fraud than anybody outside of Arizona. Did you catch his televised meetings in Gettysburg? I thought not.

But demons are strong and ruthless here in Pa, Pittsburgh and Philly especially.

Speaking of clowns, our “Supreme Court” is despicable.

I despise both McCormick and Oz. I could care less who gets the nomination and if they win against Fetterman.

I care VERY MUCH about Mastriano winning the governor’s race!

We MUST win that if we are to end this fraud of voting by mail.

Most nations improve their elections by going from paper ballots to computer-read ballots to electronic voting. Only the US goes backward to use snail-mail for voting after decades without it.

This must end and the only chance of ending it is by winning the Mastriano-Shapiro race.

“ three years after he voted it into law while serving as a state senator.”

You a misinformed.

The Act 77 that Mastriano voted on and passed was unconstitutionally modified by the PASC and Governor Wolf after the fact, making changes that permitted the fiasco that ensued.

Don’t underestimate Fetterman.

He can be beat, but he is not to be underestimated.

Exactly. People act as if Doug was for mail in voting in the form that democrats used Covid to make fraudulent in its current form. There are almost zero standards fir what is accepted and it was in our face

Also, Act 77, aka SB 421, was already written and in committee and came out of the sausage maker a full three months before Doug was even elected. He wasn't even a sponsor. It was Lisa Boscola's bill, and Scarnatti pushed it through the State Senate.

So it's disingenuous, and even dishonest, to blame Doug for it, when he had just gotten there and Scarnatti dropped it into his lap to vote on, along with all the other Republicans.
