Australians today ejected the rightwing coalition government that has held power for almost a decade. As counting continued after yesterday’s general election, Labor leader Anthony Albanese was expected to form a minority government.
Scott Morrison, the prime minister, conceded defeat in a televised address to party supporters late on Saturday and said he would be resigning as leader of his defeated Liberal Party.
He said: “I’ve always believed in Australians and their judgement, and I’ve always been prepared to accept their verdicts. And tonight they have delivered their verdict and I congratulate Anthony Albanese in the Labor Party.”

Doesn’t seem to matter too much down unduh who is in charge. The people are gonna get screwed regardless. Yes? No? Bueller?
FROM SKY NEWS:
Scott Morrison’s capitulation ends eight years and nine months in power for the conservative coalition.
Mr Morrison became prime minister in 2018 after several leadership changes.
Congratulating Mr Albanese on his election as prime minister, UK PM Boris Johnson said: “Our countries have a long history and a bright future together.
“As thriving likeminded democracies we work every day to make the world a better, safer, greener and more prosperous place.”
Highlighting the “unmatched closeness” between the two nations, he said that “the only distance between us is geographical”.
“I look forward to working with Prime Minister Albanese in the weeks, months and years ahead as, together, we tackle shared challenges and demonstrate the importance of our shared values,” Mr Johnson added.
Does Labor Party = Labor camps oh wait they already have camps
That was no “right wing” government. It was a totally woke, far left government that carried out brutal, crushing covid lockdowns. Go woke, go broke.
Meanwhile, Djokovic is laughing his head off as we speak.
So what does the Labor Party win mean for Australia? Have they moved right?
RE: Doesn’t seem to matter too much down unduh who is in charge. The people are gonna get screwed regardless. Yes? No? Bueller?
The Labor party in Australia is like the Democrats in the USA. Bigger government, progressive on cultural issues and more expansive when it comes to spending.
My personal concern is the handling of Covid. I have relatives in Melbourne that I want to visit, but am unvaccinated and already have the antibodies. I’m not sure if the Labor government will give visitors the Djokovic treatment. My bet is they will be even more restrictive.
RE: So what does the Labor Party win mean for Australia? Have they moved right?
No. The opposite is true. Labor is like Democrats in the USA. Expect more socialistic, big government policies.
Morrison was akin the Bush wing of the Republican Party, he screwed over so many of his supporters they finally gave up on him, in this case it’s not that Labor won the election, it’s the conservatives didn’t show up to compete, thinking what difference it makes when both sides are the same for the most part.
If MAGA is ever defeated by the Republican Establishment, the USA will go the same way, regardless of how bad things get, Democrats will continue to win, Conservatives will not show up, thinking rightly that doesn’t really matter.
Time to dig a hole anfd furnish it as bast you can.I swear. People vote like they are genetic idiots.
We have our own problems.
RE: That was no “right wing” government. It was a totally woke, far left government that carried out brutal, crushing covid lockdowns. Go woke, go broke.
The labor party is probably even more woke, left and crushing than the liberal party they just defeated. Just look at where the Covid lockdowns are most onerous in that country... it’s in the Labor controlled states.
That’s what I thought when I read the article.
I wonder if they mean European right which I believe is hard core fascism.
Left and right is different in America. I always looked at it as a scale of %Government control. Left is 100%, right is 0%.
I’m not convinced people are voting. Oh, we think we’re voting all right. I just don’t think what is reported is real.
I didn’t feel sorry for the Venezuelans. Figured they got what they voted for. Then I found out they got Dominion voting machines.
Now I feel sorry for them.
True, the left including the Bush Wing of the Republican Party will not go down without a fight, we are in that fight right now, we just have to keep pushing ahead.
I love the saying, Don’t let the Perfect take away from the really good.
Meaning many on the Conservative Right want 100% purity, I say we cobble together whoever supports liberty because without Liberty we have nothing else.
Change gonna come. And it won’t be pretty
Get rid of the Aussie equivalent of a RINO government because the covid forced vaxx and draconian lockdowns.
And vote the Labor lefties in instead.
If you thought the Covid lockdowns were tyrannical, just wait until Labor oversees the monkey pox lockdowns.
Some lessons have to be learned the hard way...
China will be happy.
Hell no, they have lurched left.
The Liberal Party is the Aussie equivalent of RINOs.
