Recent events in New York have brought the grim realities of America’s gun violence problem into sharp relief. In both instances the perpetuators took advantage of the nation’s lax gun laws and legally purchased firearms whose lethality would have been unimaginable to the authors of the Second Amendment. The easily modified semi-automatic AR-15 used by the white supremacist shooter who killed ten people in Buffalo on Saturday was two hundred times more lethal than the revolutionary muskets that helped win the American Revolution. This attack came one month after a shooter with a Glock 9-millimeter handgun injured 23 people in a Brooklyn subway. Given these horrific events, it is hard to fathom how the U.S. Supreme Court could be contemplating striking down a century-old New York gun regulation, but based on the oral argument in the case this unthinkable reality seems almost inevitable unless the court comes to its senses, abandons originalist fantasy, and recognizes the long history of gun regulation and enforcement in America, including limits on public carry.
In an eerie foreshadowing of the Brooklyn subway shooting, the Supreme Court debated the theoretical possibility of allowing guns on New York subways in the oral argument of NYSRPA v. Bruen in November. In one notable, and disturbing exchange, Justice Elena Kagan pressed former solicitor general Paul Clement who reluctantly conceded that it might be ok to have such a restriction on the city’s subways. In subsequent colloquy Justice Samuel Alito erroneously suggested that criminals in New York were already widely “packin heat” on the subway, a false claim that New York’s woefully un-prepared solicitor general did not bother to correct when queried.

They would also have been shocked at the power and lethality of the MSM 'press' today compared to the then-contemporary citizen printing presses with regard to the First Amendment. Perhaps we should call for drastic controls on the 'press' and make journalists, publishers, et al get licenses, background checks, waiting periods etc...
Saul Cornell is a blooming retard. What a moron.
Actually, the perps took advantage of the restrictive gun legislation that keeps people from carrying and being able to defend themselves.
There were some incidents in churches in the last few years where the perp was slaughtering people, or trying to, because no one was armed, until a good guy with a gun showed up and solved the problem.
The problem isn’t the guns. It’s the gun free zones.
“Its gunna be the wild west, I tell you!! The Wild West!!”
If you lived in Buffalo, you wouldn’t.
Jefferson Ave tells you all you need to know.
I have relatives still living there and they told me this evil has really pulled the community together, and that many of the people shot and killed were apparently Christians, many were active in the local Baptist church there.
There has been a tremendous outpouring of support and food for thar section of the city, in which the Tops was the only place to shop. It is a food desert section.
God is redeeming a very evil incident.
FWIW, since apparently many of the people shot were Christians, it would be no surprise that someone so demonically fueled would pick out people who were Christians to shoot. Of course, the guy wouldn’t know, but the demons would.
Ironically, people were being asked to supply those evil guns to the Ukrainians to fight Russia, and here they keep trying to disarm us.
Guns are only OK when it’s not conservatives here in the US who are using them.
We need letters of marque and reprisal against criminals.

More laws don’t work at stopping criminals.
We have tried more laws and it doesn’t work. A person who would murder is not regulated by more laws as they will ignore any and all laws.
About the only thing society can do is to provide swift justice with little to no mercy for those who commit violent crime.
If the military tried to attack American civilians, their bases, ports, air bases, truck and tank depots could be shutdown, isolated, and cut from food, power, water, and even road access within hours.
See my tagline, folks. Leftists democrats will never stop trying to disarm us all the while, they fund and execute wars to murder people around the world.
Hey Saul. The Revolutionary War era muskets were the AR-15 of their day.
You dishonest hack!
Better call Saul. He'll judge you, qualified or not.
Yea. Where did he get 200 times more lethal? Seems high.
I think it took 20 seconds to load a musket and shoot. Three shots a minute. I’m pretty sure I could empty a 30 round mag in 15 seconds with my unmodified AR. Allowing 5 seconds for reload, I think I could get off 90 aimed rounds a minute. That would make it 33% more lethal. I’m sure others could do better though.
Slate commie writer makes a big logical mistake. The Constitution clearly states “the right to bear arms shall not be infringed” in the Second Amendment. No where in the Constitution does the phrase “the right to abort will not be infringed” appears.
was two hundred times more lethal than the revolutionary muskets
Blah, blah, blah...your laptop is 1,000 times more able to spew lies and deceits than Ben Franklin’s printing press.
Shut up.
No it shows how the insane are still just sane enough not to take too big a risk by going into disarmed areas.
Look at the pics of the victims. It’s not like he ran into the middle of the hood to shoot up gansta types. They’re all normal folks.
30 times, or 3000%.
I knew my math was wrong.
