North Carolina State Sen. Chuck Edwards (R) unseated Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) in the state’s 11th congressional district primary.
Dave Wasserman, the House editor of the Cook Political Report, reported that Cawthorn lost his renomination to state Sen. Edwards.

True...and his youthful past was very recent for him vs. 20 years ago. Plus in the internet age where it got recorded and stays around forever and in the public eye.
Still 6 precincts left to count in this race as of 10:15pm.
Edwards up by 1,550 votes.
The guys antics were his story—not his politics.
Ok, them what know: What kinda guy is Edwards?
Reminds me of Pat Tillman. Yes that Pat Tillman. His reaction to 911 got himself killed. Cawthorn got his political future killed because he lived his political life on the edge just like Tillman lived his life before 911.
The analogy-I just finished a book on Tillman-not positive.
The voters are not into taking too many chances-that’s good.
One of the conservative news outlet pundits commented that Edward’s happens to have a very good Conservative rating.
I know nothing about Edwards, but...hoping so, if he wins this one.
Like Cawthorne, but....his negatives were too much to overcome.
See post 8.
Was about to post the same.
“I had high hopes for cawthorn but his past was too immature.”
No. He was too fake.
He was never what he pretended to be.
“The voters are not into taking too many chances-that’s good.”
Voters are not into taking chances any more?
I’m glad to hear that has stopped.
This is a good result. The guy was hypocritical, immature, and not nearly ready for primetime.
He’s hurt the GOP brand it’s good riddance to bad rubbish.
Now he can prance around in his Victoria’s Secret collection without anyone caring.
I’ve been at FR going on 24 years and that may be the dumbest post I’ve ever seen.
I can say it now: Cawthorne always seemed like a total douche to me.
The kind of fake I can’t stand.
I’m sure he voted correctly most of the time, but I can’t say I’m sad that to see that weirdo lose.
Tillman gave his life for freedom and was killed by friendly fire.
How does that make his life not-positive???
Tillman was a hero.
I guess he could have stayed home and continued to play a sport for millions and complain about the disadvantages in life he had to overcome. Like most thugs in major leagues do today. Yet instead he decided to put his life on the line for the country he loved.
Mind you, Tillman was not supposed to make the college team, then he was not drafted, signed as a free agent, and became a prowl player for the cardinals before walking away from the NFL for peons like the pinhead author of the book you read, who belittled his existence.
I know of many men who did the same thing, I guess their life was a wasted unpostive thing also in the mind of who ever wrote that book.
Tillman, one day I shall meet you in heaven brother in arms.
All I will say is God Bless Pat Tillman.
Now he can get back to his drag career.
Madison Cawthorn doesn’t straighten up his life he will be heading to prison soon..
