SCOTUS Rules 5-4 Against Illegal Alien Seeking to Evade Deportation from U.S.

The United States Supreme Court (SCOTUS) on Monday ruled in a 5-4 opinion against an illegal alien who sought to appeal his order for deportation before a federal appellate court.

Pankajkumar Patel, an illegal alien from India who arrived in the U.S. with his wife in the 1990s, applied for discretionary adjustment of status with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) agency in 2007. The adjustment of status would have rewarded Patel and his wife with green cards.

A bad judge can do tremendous damage. We got four of them for sure

I’m guessing most of the people posting on the thread with their little quips have not.

So, he's been living in the country for almost 30 years, and NOW we're just getting around to maybe deporting him?

And people honestly believe there are only 11 million illegals in this country? It is at least 35-40 million, probably closer to 50 million.

It’s also why dumbs shouldn’t rely on newspaper or blog snippets for complex matters of statutory interpretation.

Well, yeah, that's right. But that's no fun. Morons gonna moron. And people are going to believe what they want to believe.

For my part, I was somewhat amused to see Justice Gorsuch's frustration with his coming out on the short end of the stick (i.e., being outvoted) with his hyper-purist "textualist" approach to statutory interpretation in Patel, the same abstruse methodology that led him to such an absurd interpretation of "sex discrimination" under Title VII in the Bostock case. Well, when you play it that way, dummy, you're gonna win some and you're gonna lose some. Them's the breaks.

Gorsuch's problem is that he's not nearly as smart as he thinks he is. He could do with some intellectual maturity. Jurisprudentially, he's a bit of punk.

But this is all "inside baseball" stuff anyhow for the average Breitbart reader.

This is a text book rat move. Take the most extreme sympathetic circumstance to create precedent. A gainfully employed illegal from India who has been here 30 years as your wedge case. Get the sympathy Judgement then weaponize it.
Classic.

[[The man lied on his driver’s license application.]]

Omar lied about her brother being her husband- and the uniparty doesn’t care apparently. Justice is nearly non existent anymore.

Ok, I see why Gorsuch sided with the opposition. They needed someone who knew how to write a coherent document.

He had put in a lot of work to get that GA license.
GA licenses are “real ID” complaint. You have to produce stuff like birth certificates get one. It is impossible that he could have gotten one without forging some document.

It’s a very tiny win in the whole scheme of things. Now if we could only get a ruling deporting the 6 million new ‘migrants’ expected to arrive here this year alone, that would be a real victory.

There is no control at the border. They’re just pouring in, and if you look at the pictures of the massive caravans, they seem to be mostly young men. I don’t understand that.

9-0 is not what I was talking about. Where I was going was on any split decision, when has a single liberal crossed over to the conservative side?

I do not think he got the GA license. He was caught because he checked the box as "citizen" and then could not produce the documentation. He was reported and charged after that.

He claims it was "mistake" and he deserves a do-over. The SCOTUS ruled that even a clerical error does not allow you to correct a lie.
