Let’s not get carried away - per the article and the opinion, this ruling was only about whether or not the deportation could be subject to judicial review in of itself. It was not a ruling on deportations or even this specific deportation.
The headline paints a different picture than what the ruling was actually about.

Believe it or not there have been a couple of 5-4 decisions where it was Ginsburg. I forget what they were, but it did occur. But literally only a couple of times in her decades on the bench.

Thirty+ years ago, I was returning to the US and spoke with a Dutch couple during our jetliner flight.
They were enroute to Canada, as the two àtomic physicists had been rejected from US citizenship on a trip a year earlier.
They spared no caustic words for the US panel that had interviewed them: Composed of mostly third-world immigrants, the panel denigrated their accomplishments at every opportunity. It was as though “The US was not ACCEPTING the very best”.
Sen. Kennedy [R-LA] said of our open borders:
“Just bone-deep, down-to-the-marrow stupid.”
According to Zen Master, Gorsuch has some extremely quirky readings of the law, neither “liberal” or “conservative.” He has been an EXTREMELY reliable conservative vote.
I’m certainly not going to bash him.
But the really big point is here is yet another win, but our side only whines about cases the court didn’t take for what ever reason, having never even read the law in most cases.
I urge listening to Robert Barnes’s weekly podcasts. He dissects cases, both the law and the reality. They are often not at all the same thing. Viva Barnes on Locals. he’s doing one tonight at 6:00 Pacific Time.
It was 11 million 50 years ago in the run up to the 80s amnesty push.
It was at least 25 million by the end of the Bush II administration.
I don’t think 50 million is far off, now, unless it is low.
