New York City's mayor Eric Adams was seen wearing a face mask Monday after the city quietly updated its Covid guidance to recommend the coverings in all indoor public places.

The mayor wore the grey mask as he shook hands with students at the Economic Development Summit in the City College of New York's Great Hall.

He later removed it to answer questions from the press, where he said the city was not yet at the point of mandating the coverings, before putting it back on to leave the room.

I was in the city yesterday - other than the Asians (who masks everywhere inside and out) everyone else was unmasked outdoors with about 50/50
indoors (Blue York City after all). Mostly impacts me when I go to the theatre across the river, but other than that and the subway I haven’t worn a face diaper anywhere since April 2021.
