What's the matter with Pennsylvania?
Washington Examiner ^ | May 15, 2022 | Salena Zito

MEYERSDALE, Pennsylvania — Unless either Dr. Mehmet Oz or David McCormick pulls out a miracle between today and Tuesday evening, just over 20% of the Republican primary electorate is going to nominate Kathy Barnette for U.S. Senate.

This would mark the first time in modern Pennsylvania Republican primary history that such a complete unknown wins with no statewide infrastructure to support her candidacy, zero money, and little scrutiny. If she succeeds, she will have upended a race between two capable candidates who, up until a week ago, seemed to be locked in a two-man contest.

This would also mark the first time in Pennsylvania Republican primary history that an insurgent candidate has ever won a primary race. ***

*** There is no state party to rescue Oz or McCormick, because the party didn’t even have the spine to endorse in this race. ***

As a consequence, the party’s decision not to endorse in the governor's or Senate races has had long-reaching implications. By failing to do so, it left a ridiculous number of candidates in the race for both offices — in particular for the governor's race, where nine candidates stayed in long past their expiration date. This allowed the eccentric, far-right Doug Mastriano to suck up all of the oxygen.

In short, if Barnette wins — and everything at this moment points in that direction — she will undoubtedly run shoulder to shoulder with Mastriano. They’ve endorsed each other, they campaign together all the time, and they hold the same outsider standing — even outside of Trumpworld.

It is hard to find any pathway where either of them will win in November, even in the remarkable conditions available to Republican candidates right now.

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2022/05/14/after-days-of-pressure-kathy-barnette-releases-a-dd-214/

Barnette only last week released her NGB-22, which is the equivalent of a DD-214, but for Army National Guard soldiers.

The NGB-22 showed she joined the Army in 1990, and three years later joined the Alabama Army National Guard, serving from 1993 to 1998. Another document she released showed that she was honorably discharged from the Army Reserve in 2000, after a total of 10 years of service.

The Army also first confirmed to Breitbart News that Barnette had served in the Army National Guard from 1993 through 1998, and the Army Reserve from 1998 through 2000. The Army said any additional records would have to be obtained from the National Archive Records Administration since she had left the Army more than 15 years ago.

Hey @jackposobiec @JDRucker - just spoke with the head of communications and marketing at Judson University in Illinois. She confirmed that @Kathy4Truth was an adjunct at the school. Perhaps folks should consider fact-checking before slinging mud.

Is anyone scrutinizing Oz like everyone wants to do with Barnette? How about those Turkish military records???

Didn’t “Trump MAGA” himself endorse Oz? How is this a war that has “Trump MAGA” at war with a “RINO/GLOBALIST” candidate endorsed by “Trump MAGA?”

“””You mean except for the fact they can’t run a fair election, right?”””

And unfair elections were created by the RINO/GLOBALISTS when they passed Act 77 allowing unfettered mail-in ballots.

Here is the problem with Barnette in November: She is not a coalition-builder, and you cannot win a general election without building a coalition, no matter how good the year is for your party.

I love Salena and have had an email relationship with her for decades, but this time, she is way off base and I've sent her an email telling her how wrong she is.

If/when I hear back from her I'll post it.

How in the hell is Kathy supposed to build a coalition when she is running alone and has no backing?

If Kathy wins the primary, the coalition pimps will come running with piles of cash, all wanting to be her friend.

Ms Zito …read what Presbyterian Reporter has said and then you need to get back out in PA again. We are sick to death of Rove and his gang telling us who to nominate and OZ isn’t even from PA! Come one! You should have seen this coming a mile away.

A political party needs to unite after primary elections behind the winner of the primary.

If we don’t hang together than you cede the election to the Democrats. Is that what people want? Are Oz supporters and McCormick supporters going to be so angry if Kathy wins the primary that they prefer the Democrats to win???

The choice is up to PA Republicans. If you would prefer to see a Democrat win that Senate seat instead of Kathy Barnette, that says a lot more about you than it does about her alleged shortcomings as a candidate.

They’re pulling strings to get her nominated, because they figure she’ll be easy to take down in the general.

The problem is that when insurgents win the primary, the RINOs refuse to support them and, instead, work to help the Democrat.

This does seem often to be the case.

Surely the minor candidates aren’t going to get 35-40% of the vote. I would expect the winner to get at least 30%.

I think you’ve got it backwards. If Oz or McCormick wins the primary they’re going to probably have a real problem keeping Barnette voters on board.

There is no state party to rescue Oz or McCormick, because the party didn’t even have the spine to endorse in this race.

State party officials should not be making endorsement in primary races. There job is to get the chosen nominees elected.

Democrats don’t get questioned like this. And they said Hillary had a 97 percent chance of winning.

PA Freepers: can this be right? No way for either Mastriano or Barnette to win?

Here's the problem that I see:

If either one of them wins, then the RNC will do NOTHING to help them in the Mid-Terms.

But there will be more than that. Just like we saw in 2020, the RINOs will turn a blind eye to Democrat cheating because they would rather see a Democrat win than have their party taken over by MAGA patriots.

Jake the Snake Corman fought Mastriano in the PA Senate and blocked all attempts to investigate the 2020 fraud. Jake the Snake endorsed Barletta purely to try to stop Mastriano. The Rats will be free to cheat all they want if Mastriano and Barnette make it through.

RINOs are the lowest scum of the Earth. RINOs are the reason for the woke clown world we must endure. I pray to God that every RINO who must face a primary this summer gets voted out.

She’s a very good candidate, just not in Philly controlled PA.

But then Trump won by a landslide in PA.

Yes, he did.

If Mastriano gets the Gov nomination, as a powerful state senator, he still has influence over election integrity, and it could make a difference.

No it’s not impossible….

But it is true that the GOPE of Pa will do everything in their power to make sure they lose

PA GOP are swamp..

OZ nor MCCormick can beat Fetterman, both have spent 30
Million each and have each been floating in thr 20% the entire election..

These are 2 dogs that won’t hunt.

Only way either one of them beat Fetterman is if the D brand is so damaged by Biden and the economy that a ham sandwich would win as long as it has an R by its name.

This argument is just more establishment nonsense. OZ nor MCCormick have any political base to draw from.. and they have show. They are both no sale candidates.

The party will back whoever wins if it’s those too, but the rank and file have no desire for either of them. OZ is a fraud and MCCormick is a Wall Street Bush Republican.. they won’t bring out the disenfranchised voters or large rural turnouts that Trump did here. They are at BEST two boring non descript R candidates. Fetterman is a beast for thr D’s. He will eat both of them for breakfast and crap them out by lunch.

This “Barnette and Mastriano can’t win” is the same crap that the establishment always claims when their guys are losing…

We will see how it goes. Have to get past Tuesday first.

It’s pretty clear Mastriano will win the Governor nomination.. and based on momentum And fact neither OZ nor McCormic has been able to move the needle in months after spending 60 million combined.. odds are pretty strong Barnette will get the democrats nomination.

The GOPe has done nothing but attack Barnette with all kinds of crap over the last 4 or 5 days… so they know she’s winning.. will find out in a few days if their crap worked or not.

Just imagine if the GOPe fought against democrats 1/2 as hard as they do against conservatives…

I won’t sugar coat it, the party will do nothing more than token support for these two if they win, it will require the grassroots to put them over the goal posts in November… but the idea they “can’t” win is nonsense..

Much like Trump, if they are to win they will have to fight the Dems and the Establishment/Uniparty/rino wing of the GOP as wel.
