Pennsylvania Senate candidate Kathy Barnette says she "worked on Wall Street for many years." She's about 955 miles off.
Barnette, a conservative commentator, cited her experience on Wall Street in 2011 and 2020, and in an attack on Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign. "I worked 4 years on Wall Street. Would u invest money w/ someone who was filing bankruptcy?" she wrote of Trump's finances in 2016.
But Barnette's official résumé suggests she worked far from the domain of "bulls, bears, [and] people from Connecticut." She has held three jobs in the financial services industry, according to a now-deleted LinkedIn profile. She was an associate analyst at the Missouri-based A.G. Edwards from 1997 to 1999, and a financial equity analyst at "Banc of America Capital Management," her résumé says. She described the latter as a "major Wall Street firm" but worked for the company in St. Louis.
A Washington Free Beacon geographic analysis found that Wall Street is in New York City, not St. Louis. There is a Wall Street in the midwestern town, but it is largely residential.
The inconsistency emerges as Barnette faces other questions about her background. Barnette, whose surge in polls has caught opposing GOP campaigns by surprise, gave contradictory answers about whether she voted for Trump in the 2016 primary. She claimed this week she did, but said in her 2020 book, "I didn’t vote for Trump in the primaries." Barnette opposed Trump during much of the 2016 campaign, saying his moral character was "questionable," but said she joined the "Trump train" by the general election. Barnette insisted this week she voted for Trump in 2016, but the Pittsburgh-Post Gazette reported she did not cast a ballot in Pennsylvania until 2018..

Let’s give her the benefit of the doubt just for a moment. Okay...so she doesnt remember when she taught school
A capable candidate would have figured it out before running for office. She would have been prepared to answer questions about her background. Her excuses stink to high heaven.
She has lamented the “Homosexual AGENDA”!
Oh noooooo, we can’t have any of that can we? Good grief. You do realize that the ultimate goal of the homosexual agenda (NAMBLA) is to legalize sex with children, at any age, at any place, at any time. That is the ultimate goal.
Are you OK with that, you so-called conservative?
She LIED about Trump and bankruptcy.. just like HRC did! He personally never filed bko! The companies he aquired that were broke, he put into chapter 11 reorganizing. The creditors agreed and got paid. If she had gotten her way, we’d have gotten HRC. She never supported Trump and looks like many freepers never did either.
She plays the race card!
Freepers are going woke.
I wandered into this spirited dispute.
I’m not picking side, but I do say your comments are pretty compelling, especially about becoming an adjunct professor.
You make a strong case that something is not quite right. And yes, Google doesn’t want her to fall. Is there a good reason for that?
Chuck Ross is scummier than scum.
She didn’t off the top of her mind give the exact dates that she taught corporate finance as an adjunct, but she gave the college and its location. That’s perfectly fine and normal.
As is her referring to her working for Bank of America Capital Asset Management and J.D. Edwards as having worked on Wall Street: https://www.investopedia.com/ask/answers/where-does-the-name-wall-street-come-from/
You and too many other Freepers (let’s hope not PA voters) are being buffaloed by these baseless accusations.
“Wall Street” often is just a generic terms for financial sector.
It’s like saying someone works on “Broadway” just means it’s someone in the stage show business even if the show is not literally on a a street named “Broadway”.
Very well said by you.
Thanks for that.
Exactly. Others have commented that she didn’t expect to get this far or to have this level of scrutiny and she is winging it, a recipe for disaster in the general election not to mention in the Senate.
As a reservist you can be assigned to an active duty position, but while officially in a Reservist capacity (or NG), you’re on “ACDUTRA” status. I believe that’s correct.
Exactly how I feel
Exactly!
WRONG! You don't know what the hell you are talking about.
https://www.investopedia.com/terms/w/wallstreet.asp#toc-what-is-wall-street
While being on Wall Street is no longer de rigueur for a financial-industry firm (many, in fact, are located all around the country) or even to trade stocks (which primarily happens online now), the term "Wall Street" still means business—the investment business—and the interests, motivations, and attitudes of its players.
Wall Street is used as an umbrella term to describe the financial markets and the companies that trade publicly on exchanges throughout the U.S.
What exactly would that "massive and extensive conservative record" include? She's never been elected to anything, and never worked in any public office where her work was subject to public scrutiny. And we have no idea which candidates got her vote in any given election.
No it’s not. No one thinks working on wall street just means you work in finance. That’s ridiculous, something one might say with a wry grin knowing everyone knows you are pulling their leg.
If you say you work on Broadway and you are on off broadway or off off broadway or at the Papermill Playhouse in NJ you are a liar.

Stop your lying BS.
This is the kind of thing that makes a candidate look like an ignoramus at best and a fraud at worst.
Wrong. See how easy that was. If you talk about Wall Street vs Main Street you can use that umbrella but saying you work on Wall Street is not the same thing.
Along with having run for congress in 2020, she has a record back to 2015 supporting Trump and conservative causes. She’s tweeted for conservative causes for years, going back well before she ran for office. She wrote a pro-life book based in part on her life story. She’s been endorsed by multiple, serious conservative organizations.
If anything, they are accusing her of being unelectable because of the red meat she’s put out there.
Meanwhile, Oz has a 100% leftist on-the-record media record and McCormick is just now stepping down as CEO of Bridgewater, with its long CCP entanglements and the “honor” of being one of the WEF’s 100 “strategic partners”.
