Oh please Vlad! You think Ukraine’s bad, wait till you see what Finland does to you.

Keep on teaching other nations “lessons” and you won’t have any military left at all.

I think we did just as badly in Iraq and Afghanistan

No. the USA won both gulf wars and the Afghan war handily - in weeks with lower loss of American life in all three wars AND the peacekeeping missions for 20 years COMBINED, than the Russians have lost in 3 months

the USA lost the peace.

Technically the first world war was the War of the Austrian succession in the 18th century with wars in Europe, North and South America and in Asia

The second world war was the Napoleonic wars - with wars in Europe, the Americas (Haiti), Africa and the Indian subcontinent

The 1914 and 1939 wars I'd consider as one continued war

NATO has prevented war during the Soviet era.

Nato is, but Europe isnt. You can argue that the EU (aka Germany) tries to “own” European countries but on the whole it doesnt. Europe is what its always been - a mass of squabbling cousins each “owned” by nobody but themselves.

And at the moment Europe (Nato, EU, or irregardless) is pro-Ukraine by a vast majority. The US is not directing Euro responses, which it cant even try to do given its very weak current leadership. Finland and Sweden and etc are making their own decisions.

You are correct, but this is more interesting.

Finland giving up its non-aligned status automatically invalidates the 1944 treaty and recreates the state of war between Finland and Russia (as USSR successor state).

But even without this factor, the effect on Finnish economy would be very significant, for obvious reasons.

So Finnish rationale for this act is not clear.

So, in the Russia-Ukraine war, you are rooting for Russia?

I think what we are seeing in a microcosm here on FR is what is being discussed in rogue thought circles as mass formation psychosis.

we have a relatively small population of posters, most of us have been around decades, yet between this and the entire covid/vaccine business, viewpoints have split to almost diametrically opposed positions and most of these threads devolve into name-calling. An ignore feature has never been more sorely needed, not even in the height of the HG drama years.

I don’t see how an ‘honest’ poll could be done, but I would be interested in seeing the correlation (if any) between vaccine ‘belief/trust’ and posture on this war.

“And at the moment Europe (Nato, EU, or irregardless) is pro-Ukraine by a vast majority”

And that just shows you how much the politicians in Europe benefit from the money laundering and child sex trafficking

1) Why is there still a nato?

A. Due to Putin’s misadventure in Ukraine. If Putin hadn’t invaded, then NATO would have ended in a few years

2) Why is the United States still honoring a treaty that the other participants refuse to live up to?

A. Because the USA is an honorable power and people know that the USA stands by its word. In contrast, Russia does not honor treaties, so no one is going to trust it. It also is not a trustworthy business partner

The same as German rationale for their Ukrainian involvement - an idiotic crop of globalist politicians who have no idea what their national interests are.

Maybe if western nations did not overthrow the government of Ukraine I could care less what happens but Russia has a right to self defense.

After all, didn’t the US say that invading Iraq was self defense?

when Trump could issue a mean Tweet and the Russians would back off. Biden’s inability to talk or walk up stairs has prompted the Russians to take this one last chance to establish new borders and a new security regime.

Exactly.

“It also is not a trustworthy business partner”

LOL. Is it a requirement on your troll farm to repeat this nonsense without any evidence at every opportunity?:)

” It’s rather like “display” behavior; a cat fluffing up, turning sideways and hissing.”

Or like those birds who throw out the wings and puff up. Always wondered how animals could be dumb enough to fall for that.

You ramble a bit, but I guess that the answer to the question is that, yes, you are rooting for Russia. Thanks for the information.
