New York (CNN Business)US inflation took a breather last month for the first time since August. Prices still increased, but at a slower pace than in previous months.
The Consumer Price Index was up 8.3% in the 12 months ended in April, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Wednesday, slightly higher than economists had predicted. It was a decrease from the 8.5% recorded in March, which had been the highest level in more than 40 years.

Bottom line, things are still really bad, really bad.
And Brandon with his ULTRA Dementia will make things worse.
Premarket futures were well into the positive range until the figures came out. They now are deep into the red and sinking further.
That is not a "breather".
A "breather" would have been a negative number. At minimum zero.
Anyone who can interpret 8.3% in a positive light is either in the lying corrupt media or works for Brandon.

CNN puts a positive spin on 8.3% increase. Oh my.
These people make zero sense. One says the numbers are bad. The other says the numbers are good.

This is like jumping off a building and breathing a sigh of relief as a gust of wind slows your fall....
Yes, this is just heating up.
One is CNN, the other Breitbart.
According to the rule of 72, at an inflation rate of 8.3%, the old national debt will be reduced to $0 in 8 years 8 months
Reality inflation is much different than official percent they report.
What used to cost $1.00 is now $1.69 on a food item we regularly buy. That’s 65% inflation in my book.
You mean our debt will double in 8.8 years.
It “slowed” before the recent resumption in the upward spiral in fuel prices.
Of course, when gas and home heating fuel rises 65% and it's a large part of a family budget, that's 65% inflation.
If prices still increased....then inflation is not in check.
8.3% inflation is disastrous.
Gas prices here in York (PA) are still rising, regardless of the number today. My Ethanol Free Premium 90oct’s gone from $4.79/gal last week, to $5.15/gal, yesterday.
Bidet isn’t making any calls on anything, except maybe for his hourly pudding cup.
COLA was 5.9% in January...doesn’t work for 8.3% does it.
All these numbers are artificially low anyway.
