HUNT VALLEY, Md. (TND) — As Republicans set their sights on majorities in the House and the Senate this midterm election cycle, some prominent lawmakers have come out with negative things to say about the party or point to a new direction they believe conservatives should take.
For Maryland GOP Gov. Larry Hogan, it’s a complete “course correction.” Last week at the Reagan Library’s “Time for Choosing” series, the governor said Republican voters need to “stand against extremes and for the majority of Americans.” He directly criticized former President Donald Trump, saying the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 was “an outrageous attack on our democracy, incited by the losing candidate’s inflammatory false rhetoric.”

Not even close.
As I see it, Trump is something like 40% Reagan and 60% Patton. That’s a bit too much Patton, in my opinion.
Trump is not like Reagan in any way, shape or form.
Lockdown Larry needs to sit down and stop spouting.
This pipsqueak has done nothing for my state. Nothing.
Trump is more Churchill. Look at his mannerisms.
They are not one and the same
Why would they need to be? Why would anyone think thats what we think? Obviously more divide and conquer libtard bs.

Reagan was good in the 80s, but he should be seated now.
Bad link.

Yes he is. He loves this nation and he tries to do the very
best he can for it.
That is/was at both of their cores.
Reagan was good at foreign policy, and so was trump.
Reagan and Trump’s personalities are different, so what.
Does every pitcher throw the same pitches?
Does every basketball play have the same talent?
Does every football play run long patterns?
Very different people contribute in amazing ways as long
as they are spot on at their core.
Agreed, though I’m glad Trump made the effort to see Reagan.
I took it to mean personalities, not specific methods of operation.
I have audio from Reagan after that greeting.
Reagan said “I didn’t know if he was talking to the President, or if I was”......
From that article…
A Pew Research Center poll conducted last December showed when asked to name the president who’s done the best job in the past four decades, more Republicans point to Reagan (42%) than Trump (37%). Half of Republicans above the age of 50 say Reagan was the best compared to 32% of those under 50.
I agree. Most people have very short term memories. Even old-timers who were very active in the 80s forget the greatness of Ronald Reagan. Yes, there is some argument to be made that Trump was a better president than Reagan, but only when you consider that America is in a great deal more danger now than when Reagan was president. Even so, I do believe Reagan would have risen to the occasion in far greater measures than Donald Trump did.
Additionally, speaking of short term memories, many folks argue that Hussein Obama or Bill Clinton or even Jimmy Carter was America’s worst president. When I see these arguments I shake my head and wonder how people could be so ignorant of American history. How people could not remember the great damage done to this country by Lyndon Johnson. LBJ - our worst president ever.
Haha!
Reagan was an America-fist kind of guy, and he didn’t hide it. The Gipper also connected with average, working-class Americans. You felt like he wasn’t just talking trash. He was really on your side. These are also qualities Trump has.
Just my opinion. Your mileage may vary.
Oops! Typo in my post #17: Reagan was an America-first kind of guy, and he didn’t hide it.
Reagan was humble.
LOL. I can actually HEAR Reagan saying that in his cadence, etc. Good stuff!
Reagan kept a stake of file cards with jokes on them. The Reagan Library has a youtube of comedians (Jay Leno, etc.) looking them over. It is fun to watch them read and then crack up as they get to the punch line (but before they finish reading it aloud.)
