Fifty-fifty is like could or may = nope
To: Oldeconomybuyer
It either will or it won’t. Therefore, it’s a fifty-fifty chance.

We would hit that whether there were people here or not.

according to the Climate Discussion Nexus, data have shown the world has warmed 0.2 degrees - over the last 30 years. Perfectly reasonable and within normal fluctuations.
The notion it would therefore warm 1.5 degrees in 5 years is ridiculous.

Not that long ago, the limit was 2 degC.
Apparently they have hard time reaching it, so they lowered it.

So, there’s a ‘Fifty-fifty chance’ of NOT breaching 1.5C warming limit, as well..........................

What?
”…warm by more than 1.5C over the next five years.”
It’s always been the next 100 years. Now the temp is going to zoom up 100 years worth in only five years? Doesn’t make sense.

but what if after that....it starts to drop...on its own...with no damn interference.
In other words....it's one damn guess...and has been all along.
It's gone up and down since the beginning of time.

We are still in the Holocene Epoch and are on a long-term cooling trend since around 6,000 BC. The odds of the Modern Warm Period ever being higher than the past few warm periods are slim to none.
Look at the graph below from the highest point of the black line 8 thousand years ago (6,000 BC) to the right. Each warm period is lower than the prior ones. Our Modern Warm Period (going on since the AD 1800's) is a big nothing burger.

It was 2 degrees c warmer than now during Roman times, and around the Viking voyages to North America.

Besides, I’m am FREEZING. I’ve got the heater running this morning here in Northern California. There’s been almost no spring at our North Idaho place. It was snowing on Saturday. Bring on the warming!

Gotta love their certainty. Based on this we should spend a couple hundred trillion to fight the change.
