Probably just HAD to have a smoke! I’m serious.
Ah yes. The brain-screams.
I remember them vividly.
Wont be found guilty because obviously someone told him to just “Wing-it”- he was just following orders
I agree. I could be wrong but my understanding that once the plane is pressurized you can't open the emergency doors. You could unlock them but the air pressure will keep them sealed.
I think that's why these things never happen after the plane takes off.
Should have shut the door behind him and taken off. At 4:30 a.m., you can just say you didn’t see anyone out there and assumed he jumped off.
The plane is only pressurized to an altitude of about 12,000 feet. This was on the ground during taxi, so the pressure outside would be higher than the pressurization capability of the aircraft.
He probably decided it was faster to walk to the terminal than wait to taxi in.
I am sure it took us 30 min to taxi in the last time I was in Chicago.
“4:30 am, I just awoke from a sound sleep when the plane jerked to a stop. I was sitting by the emergency window exit and remembered the briefing by the stewardess. I heard somebody say “get out!” so, still being half asleep and therefore disoriented, I opened the exit just like I was taught. I step out onto the wing and the plane started moving. I’m like WTF?”
Hey, he might be able to sell it!
Walk out and get sucked into the engine : )
“The plane is only pressurized to an altitude of about 12,000 feet. This was on the ground during taxi, so the pressure outside would be higher than the pressurization capability of the aircraft”
The plane begins to pressurize during the takeoff roll. This helps avoid a bump in pressurization when the wheels lift off the runway and the outflow valves close.
Most airplanes have a maximum differential pressure that keep that cabin in the 8000 to 9000 foot range. If the cabin were to climb to 12,000 feet, the crew would receive an alert message.
You’re on to something here. I bet he was masked, but those around him weren’t. Thus, putting him in GRAVE danger of the COOV. Really, he had no other choice. I mean, he could have DIED!!
To be fair, the plane was taxiing to the gate. The only life in jeopardy was is own, had he taken a bad fall off the wing.
