Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. said Tuesday that the leaked draft opinion proposing to overturn Roe v. Wade is authentic but not final, and that he is opening an investigation into how it became public.
“To the extent this betrayal of the confidences of the Court was intended to undermine the integrity of our operations, it will not succeed,” Roberts said. “The work of the Court will not be affected in any way.”
While Roberts’s statement said the draft provided to Politico was genuine, “it does not represent a decision by the Court or the final position of any member on the issues in the case.”

“If the timing was intentional, that means the leak really occurred months ago when a SCOTUS insider gave it to DNC insiders in order to coordinate the eventual release to the public at a time that would be most advantageous to Democrats.”
I agree.
See 9th amendment on unenumerated rights. Just one example: the Supreme Court recognized a parents right to send children to a private school. Of course abortion as a right is poorly supported.

If I was in charge, I’d put every law clerk in an auditorium and give them 5 minutes to confess OR I FIRE AND DISBAR THEM ALL!
This would include a new Constitutional amendment where a super-majority of state legislatures can nullify any Supreme Court ruling or Executive Agency rule/regulation.
how would leaking this now verses just having the ruling released in a month affect the election in November?
He’s going to try to squiggle out of that ruling,
so very frightened of what the NYTs would say about it, and about him.
Not sure that I’m glad that I’m not the only one with similar thoughts.

Remember the Kavanaugh hearings?
Dianne Feinstein released a note accusing Kavanaugh of sexual assault and total chaos ensued.
Feinstein and her staff were never held accountable and Christine Blasey Ford was never charged for false accusations.
Let’s see if the Associate Justice and her staff will be held responsible for this debacle.
Agreed but this is about getting the dem voters out in November. The more votes they get, less notable the steal is in areas where it’s needed.
The fact that it was leaked to Politico tells me everything I need to know. It was a Lefty-Dem initiative and was done for a (IMHO) dual purpose:
1. In hopes for a reversal of the decision - a real long shot.
2. As a Get Out The Vote initiative for the Desperate Dems - TBD how well this will work. I don’t think it will but the MSM will jump in it. And no question, it is an unneeded diversion.
They never fire anyone who is immediately forthcoming. Sure they suffer consequences, but they have never fired them.

I’ll bet my best set of black robes that it was leaked by someone on the left.
Let’s hope the Marshal of the Court, who has been tapped to conduct the investigation, isn’t compromised like Chief Justice Roberts, and his investigation will be thorough, and truthful.
A lot of people are commenting on the possible “Get Out The Vote” angle, but I don’t see it. The fall elections will not affect an existing Supreme Court decision, and it seems very unlikely that court appointees in the immediate future will suddenly overturn this decision. It really doesn’t work that way.
I think the Democrats just lost their core issue that has been “getting out the vote” for the past 50 years. It will not return, and their energy in 2022 and 2024 will be much lessened.
Their current anger is impotent. They can do nothing, and they know it.
They only need to wear down Kavanaugh.
Isn’t this akin to the fox who promises to find out which other fox raided the henhouse?
