New York City raised its COVID alert level to medium on Monday as cases surpassed a rate of 200 per 100,000 people in the five boroughs, health officials said. It marks the first time the health department has adjusted that level since debuting the new system under Mayor Eric Adams' administration earlier this year.
Manhattan and Staten Island, respectively, have the highest transmission rates per 100,000 residents, the latest health data show, but it's the first borough that is having a disproportionate impact on the city's overall rolling new case rate.
Those two boroughs are also now classified as "medium" COVID alert counties by the CDC. And while the new case rates are clearly ascending, they remain well below what they were during omicron's peak surge in January.

I was reading that some researchers now think the route of transmission is fecal-oral. Bat viruses apparently are transmitted that way, and not air-borne or spread by droplets.
So they only thing that would have helped, which was encouraged at the very beginning, was washing your hands and not touching your face. Putting a filthy piece of plastic or cloth over your mouth certainly didn’t help.
They fear the mid-term elections.
Who gives a crap about “cases”! Who in their right minds is testing for this garbage anymore anyway? I feel sick…. Oh, I know! I’ll run to the Doc and test for Covid! Because, why?
I got it early in April. I am a ‘pureblood’, so I had to take 10 days off work, rather than five. Not the worst cold or flu that I ever had, but some of the additional symptoms were ‘not fun’! A VERY WEIRD illness.
We DO NOT NEED ANOTHER LOCKDOWN! THAT is what the left wing pols are salivating over! What they don’t realize, is that with massive outbreaks of this MILDER CCP-Coronavirus, NATURAL IMMUNITY will spread far and wide, doing to the general population, EXACTLY WHAT THE KILL SHOTS DID NOT DO!
For me, this ‘new variant’ (omicron?) meant that in addition to a sore throat, sneezing, slight fever, every fibre of my body ached for 4-5 days. It was also like I had shingles briefly over that period. Every square millimeter of my skin hurt. Fatigued enough so that when I went to the bathroom, I felt like I had just run a marathon. I didn’t eat for 5 days, not even had water for 4. I feel that I could have returned after one week, but glad they gave me two off.
Oh noes!!!!
