The resource-strapped Portland Police Bureau (PPB) reportedly took more than 20 minutes to respond when alleged antifa members assaulted a Saturday campaign event near police headquarters in downtown Portland.
By the time officers had "sufficient resources" to establish a crime scene near Southwest 3rd and Main Street, the black-clad demonstrators had already dispersed after hurling smoke grenades, paint-filled balloons and fireworks, according to police. Two were injured by "mortars," police said.
The protesters' violence cut short the event in support of Republican gubernatorial candidate Stan Pulliam, whose platform includes refunding the police.
"This is what happens when a Republican dares to hold an event in Portland to talk about funding our police. Antifa shows up," Pulliam tweeted along with footage of the incident…

Civil rights violation
This cannot stand
No matter how understaffed, if one responds with superior firepower they win. Anyone stopping an exercise of a bill of rights provision should be executed IMO.
The Portland PD didn’t “struggle” to respond, they just didn’t respond at all from the video I’ve seen. Would we really expect anything better from them since they are the enforcement arm of the Media-Dem Party regime in power in Portland?
And nobody there can make use of that?
.
And not a peep from the commie press..meanwhile old ladies are in solitary for entering the capitol..but if you are a Dem voter and align yourself with the commie party, you can burn buildings to the ground and assault innocent people and get away with it
I doubt that the police tried very hard. Antifa also attacked some people in Seattle yesterday and apparently the police were nowhere to be seen.
I’m sure there are good cops there, and the department posted about how busy they were and how understaffed, etc., all of which I’m sure is true.
But call officers off investigation of an automobile accident to get them out to protect citizens. Except that in Portland and Seattle, Republicans are probably not considered citizens.
But, always remember children, the policeman is your friend.
There was no response at all when antifa attacked a Christian rally.
Portland didn’t just vote for third world status, they marched for it.
SOP for Portland police is to let Antifa riot and only respond to acts of self-defense by the attacked.
STRUGGLE? They didn’t respond at all (it took 20 minutes just for them to get through to 911).
Those black clad figures waving flags do stand out well.
Anarchist / commie criminals don’t want a pro-police governor. Surprise, surprise.
“The Portland PD didn’t “struggle” to respond”
That was my first reaction, too.
Or “struggle” means their ranks have been cut by two thirds. Or it means the remaining cops asked themselves “what’s in it for me if I respond? Get attacked, get injured, get shot or get sued? Even if I lock them up, the National Lawyers Guild and the DA will let them out in an hour.”
These are the Obama’s civilian force mobs that will enforce the dictates of the disinformation bureau.
Like a Red Guard Nina will direct them to each target with feigned deniability.
These articles are BS. It has nothing to do with being understaffed. Law enforcement has the ability to investigate and charge the leaders of the attack. The fact that they never do is why it continues.
The politician who called the rally was genius to get these punks to come out and show P-Town what they are tolerating.
Under motivated police are slow to respond, more like it.
The expression used to be “when seconds count, the police are minutes away.”
Now the expression is: “when seconds count, the police are no where to be found.”
What was their excuse for not responding when they were fully staffed?
